I wonder how many people saw this this morning? I recorded Morning Joe this morning to hear their response to Donald Trump's​ obscene tweet about Mika Brzezinski and was rewarded by Donny Deutsch who lashed out against Trump, calling him a vulgar pig and disgusting to look at.

I have to say it was shocking but someone needed to finally say it.

Keith Olbermann has been calling out Bill O’Reilly’s lies for a very long time

Everyone knows that Keith Olberman can be a royal pain in the ass to his employers, but the man calls it as he sees it with little to no remorse. Olberman has been calling out Bill O'Reilly for years. It's a shame more didn't pay closer attention to what he was saying back during his MSNBC years, rather than thinking he was a crazy, mean-spirited, ranting lunatic who was obsessed with Bill O'Reilly.

With new allegations questioning Bill O’Reilly’s reporting on Monday, a segment late last year by ESPN’s Keith Olbermann can be seen in a new light. 

On Nov. 19, Olbermann named the Factor host his daily “Worst Person In The World,” but not because of their long-standing political differences. Instead, a smiling Olbermann tore into O’Reilly’s public statements inflating his athletic prowess. 

At the time, O’Reilly had given a radio interview talking about his days as a “varsity” football player at Marist College.

“We were undefeated our senior year,” O’Reilly told ESPN radio host Dan LeBatard. “That was a pretty good deal.” 

But Olbermann had debunked that claim as far back as 2005, pointing out that Marist did not field a varsity team until 1978 — seven years after O’Reilly graduated. 

“It was varsity football in the sense of that we played Georgetown, Catholic U., Fordham, Manhattan, Iona,” O’Reilly said in his defense. “So, you know, look. You know what it is, guys, you know what it is.”

Christie Holds Town Hall Today In Fort Lee

Tuesday, April 1st, 2014

(Fort Lee, NJ) – Today, Governor Chris Christie will hold his 117th Town Hall meeting in Fort Lee.
“Just like every other town hall we’ve held this year, Fort Lee is a municipality I carried last November,” said Christie. “I look forward to meeting with local residents and answering what’s on their mind. Frankly, folks don't care about unimportant things like closing access lanes to the George Washington Bridge. If for some reason they do care, they can just read the completely comprehensive, impartial, thorough report on the matter released last week.” “……,” said Michael Drewniak, Christie Spokesman. “……..”

“In light of spokesman Mike Drewniak barely speaking to the press for the past 85 days, today I am proud to join Governor Christie’s circle of trust,” said Joshua Henne, Christie’s new spokesman. “The governor and I both love Bruce Springsteen and the Mets. For those reasons, it’s an honor to work the cones alongside Governor Christie today in Fort Lee.”

As always, today’s town hall will have several ground rules. However, based on recent disruptions of attendees attempting to ask difficult questions, a few more regulations have been added. For example, there will be no questions allowed about anything that starts with the letter “S”. This includes – but is not limited to – the following terms: “Subpoenas”, “Samson”, “Stepien”, “Scandal”, “Sokolich” and “Serbian”.

Exceptions will be made to the rule when it comes to “Superstorm Sandy” – however it will only be allowed if the question is about Christie’s fleece or to simply make an obsequious statement of support for the governor. You will be cut off or ignored if you ask about funneling Sandy funds to towns not hit by the hurricane, how the Economic Development Authority has failed to get grants to affected small businesses, or how relief dollars were used for a “Stronger Than The Storm” commercial showcasing Christie and his smiling family in an election year.

Please arrive very, very, very, very early - as traffic has been known to build up at the nearby George Washington Bridge during rush hour. Because this is the first Town Hall not held in a municipality with a mayor or other elected officials friendly with the governor, those attendees endorsing Christie will be given preferential seating, as well as the potential to have access to Sandy rebuilding funds.

Special to today’s town hall will be a specific lane dedicated for the “children of Buono voters.” And if anyone has questions about why that is, and why it takes so long to drive through the town, police officers have been told to direct questions to Mayor Mark Sokolich. If you are a reporter, don’t even try to ask a question during or after the event. Members of the media will have to wait another 80 days for the next opportunity to be berated by Governor Christie when he holds his next Friday 3 pm press conference.

Attendees are encouraged to ask what David Letterman and Jimmy Fallon are like in person. Sports are a good topic, too. For example, feel free to ask Christie who he thinks the Dallas Cowboys should draft next month. However, please do not ask questions about how quiet Christie was during the Super Bowl following the release of David Wildstein’s letter alluding to evidence existing on bridgegate. Along those same lines, please refrain from asking about how the Christie Administration bungled the NJTransit system going to-and-from the SuperBowl even though they had years to plan for the event.

Participants are encouraged to snap a “selfie” with the Governor. Especially if they have adorable children in tow and tell Christie how great he is. However, any signs calling on Christie to resign, asking how an investigation on bridgegate can be considered “thorough” without interviewing the five key members of his administration - or expressing any First Amendment rights at all for that matter – will be immediately confiscated.

On his show this past Sunday, Steve Kornacki, host of MSNBC's UP w/ Steve Kornacki, outlined Chris Christie’s potential predicament he will find himself in if he plans to run for President in 2016. If Christie declares his candidacy for President after being reelected as NJ Governor this fall, it is extremely likely he would have to resign as governor so that he could raise campaign funds from Wall Street firms.

As a "result of two federal rules, one from the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board dating back nearly two decades and the other from the SEC in 2011, that drastically curb the ability of employees of Wall Street firms to donate to governors seeking federal office and of the uniquely broad appointment powers that come with the New Jersey governorship. Put together, they have the potential to prevent Christie from raising millions of dollars from a cash-rich sector – the financial services industry – that has been particularly enthusiastic about him."

According to a new book written by Dan Balz,“Collision 2012”, Mitt Romney was very concerned about this issue last year when he courted Christie to be his vice-presidential running mate. When Romney asked Christie if he would resign as governor to be on his ticket, Christie laughed not realizing that Romney was serious - when Christie refused Romney turned to Paul Ryan.

Kornacki wrote about all this yesterday on Salon.com, it's an interesting read that New Jerseyan's should take a look at before deciding to vote for Chris Christie again in November,  it's a potential game changer. If Christie runs for President and resigns one year after reelection than essentially, voters will be voting for Lt. Governor Kim Guadagon to be NJ's next governor, not Christie!

Rep. Frank Pallone Not Satisfied With Sandy Response and Recovery Effort

The Jersey Shore is open for business, but for homeowners and many small businesses, there is still a long way to go to recovery. In case you missed it, Congressman Frank Pallone along with Asbury Park's Langosta Lounge owner Marilyn Schlossbach were interviewed today on MSNBC's Jansing & Co.

Besides being a restaurateur, Schlossbach had a brief political career of her own. Back in 2011 she was the running mate of Monmouth County Chairman Vin Gopal when they were running for State Assembly in 11th Legislative District. . Schlossbach had to drop out of the race in September of that year due to damage sustained by a number of her other restaurants as a result of Hurricane Irene. She was replaced on the ticket by Red Bank councilwoman Kathy Horgan.

The Democratic gubernatorial candidate challenging Chris Christie in his re-election bid, Barbara Buono, appeared on MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell to clarify Chris Christie’s record on taxes, spending cuts, massacre control and education–topics the New Jersey governor all touched on in his first TV ad of his re-election campaign.

With a substantial buy of $1.2 billion, the Republican governor’s campaign began running the ad Wednesday in New York City and Philadelphia TV markets. Christie’s ad touts bipartisanship, saying his ability to reach out to both sides of the aisle got “New Jersey back on track.”

“Working with Democrats and Republicans, believing that as long as you stick to your principles, compromise isn’t a dirty word,” the narrator says.

“It is a little surprising,” Buono told O’Donnell, questioning the early ad buy. “It shows his numbers are artificially inflated because of Hurricane Sandy.”

The New Jersey State Senator, who has been backed by Newark Mayor Cory Booker, bashed the title of Christie’s ad, “Jersey Proud,” pointing out that New Jerseyans “are not proud of the governor’s record on unemployment” with over 400,000 still jobless.

“He’s living in some alternative universe where, you know, we are at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to economic growth, and yet he’s calling it a New Jersey comeback. I beg to differ and I’m going to change that,” Buono promised...

Without Due Process

The following is from Congressman Rush Holt's newsletter:

The Fifth Amendment guarantees that no American shall “be deprived of life, liberty or property, without due process of law.” Yet the Department of Justice has, according to leaked memos and news reports, prepared legal justifications that permit the government, under presidential directive, to kill American citizens without trial during the course of counterterrorism operations.

This week, I joined Rep. Barbara Lee and other members of Congress in urging President Obama to release these Justice Department memos in their entirety.

Of particular concern is the possibility that unmanned drones may be used to execute American citizens without due process. Senator Rand Paul raised this concern during his 13-hour filibuster of the nomination of John Brennan to be the director of the CIA, and in response, the Attorney General provided a two-sentence letter saying that drones could not be used in this way. Yet without the context of the full legal justifications for targeted killings, this assertion provides little comfort. Central questions are when a terrorist or potential terrorist relinquishes his or her constitutional protections, how the government would make this determination, and how precisely and accurately a government directive would identify that person.

Drones have legitimate uses, and but we need to put clear, enforceable boundaries around their use. Last summer, I tried to fill this legal vacuum through an amendment to the annual Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill that would forbid the flying of armed drones over U.S. soil.

That amendment passed unanimously in the House, but unfortunately the funding bill itself never passed the Senate, so the provision did not become law. I intend to try again this year when we debate the Fiscal Year 2014 appropriations bills.

We Should Invest As If We Have a Future

How many wildfires, hurricanes, barges running aground on the Mississippi, and tornadoes will it take before people realize that dealing with climate change is in the public interest?

On Tuesday evening, I joined Rachel Maddow on MSNBC to talk about the importance of R&D to find new ways to fight climate change. As I told her, many in Congress insist that we cannot afford to deal with climate change. The truth is, we can’t afford not to deal with it.

America is not a poor, impoverished nation; we’re just acting like one. We should be investing as if we believe there will be a future. We should be investing in education, infrastructure, and research and development – particularly to deal with problems that are staring us in the face, such as climate change.

2013 Congressional Art Competition

I am now collecting entries for the 2013 Congressional Art Competition from students throughout New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District.

Since 1982, the annual Congressional Art Competition has showcased exceptional art pieces by high school students from many of the nation's 435 Congressional Districts. One artwork from each Congressional district is displayed prominently in the corridors of the U.S. Capitol for a year.

All entries must be sponsored by a high school art teacher, and each art teacher may submit at most four artworks. If you know a high school artist, please encourage him or her to learn more by visiting my website and to talk to his or her art teacher about entering. Art teachers must submit a list of student participants by Friday, March 29.

Also, I encourage you to join the upcoming Congressional Art Competition reception to see all of the outstanding artwork created by teenagers from all over the four counties of the 12th Congressional District. The event will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 at the Imperia Banquet Center, 1714 Easton Avenue in Somerset.

An Open Letter To Governor Christie From MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry: Pump Your Brakes, Gov. Christie

Dear Gov. Christie,

It’s me, Melissa. Well, there’s no denying it–you are definitely having a moment. Since last year when you put partisan politics aside to praise President Obama’s disaster response to the recent kick in the pants you gave House Speaker John Boehner, it seems you’ve become the voice of America’s frustration with Washington. And as a resident of a city that knows all too well what it means to rebuild in the wake of catastrophe, I know the people of New Jersey are grateful to have you as a champion.

You can tell by your 73% approval rating. And even more impressive, as a Republican governor of a blue state, you’ve managed to get 62% approval among Democrats, 70% among women, and 69% among people of color. That makes you almost a shoo-in for re-election this year. No doubt all that love has got you feeling like it’s all aboard the Christie train–next stop, the White House!

But not so fast. I’m going to need you to pump your brakes.

Your ability to lead people through the aftermath of a disaster does not qualify you to be president of the United States. Just ask Rudy Giuliani.

Oh, that Time Magazine cover line certainly had it right–you are the master of disaster. It’s just that the disaster struck long before Hurricane Sandy came ashore. Let’s hope you do a better job presiding over the state’s storm recovery than you’ve done presiding over New Jersey’s economic recovery. Because New Jersey’s economic performance ranked 47th in the nation in 2011. And right now, the [New Jersey] unemployment rate is 9.6%–surpassing the national rate by almost 2%.

It seems, governor, that residents are still waiting on that so-called “Jersey Comeback” you claimed had already begun.

And so much for your reputation for telling the hard truths–or telling the truth at all. When you ran for governor, you promised not to cut pensions, property tax rebates, or education spending. When you became governor, you promptly cut all three. Oh, and there’s also the matter of those other cuts you proposed–the tax cuts for New Jersey’s wealthiest residents. You even went so far as to veto–not once, not twice, but three times–a tax increase on millionaires.

Given your policy preferences for the wealthy, is it any wonder that it took a natural disaster and some convincing from President Obama before you could get some reciprocation in your love for Bruce Springsteen? You know his every lyric, so you also know that The Boss–I mean the real Boss–in his songs celebrates the working class. The same folks who suffer when you refuse to raise the state’s minimum wage or when you cut the earned income tax credit for low-income residents, or cut $7.4 million from reproductive health care services.

Thanks to you, the women of New Jersey now have six fewer family planning clinics. Those that remain saw 26,000 fewer patients after your budget cuts. That’s fewer breast exams, fewer cancer screenings – fewer lives that could be saved with preventative care. So yes, by all means, enjoy your moment. You’ve earned it.

But thanks to your policy record you’ve also earned what’s coming to you in 2016–and I have a feeling America’s voters are going to give you exactly what you deserve.

Scarborough's Morning Joe Commentary On The Sandy Hook School Shootings

I was up early this morning and when I turned on the Morning Joe show on MSNBC, I was pleasantly surprised to see show host Joe Scarborough open his show with a strong monologue pertaining to Friday's Sandy Hook School shooting.  Scarborough made a heartfelt, commonsense plea for some type of gun regulations that will end the senseless violence that has become far more common in recent years than anyone would like.

When in Congress, Scarborough was one of the most conservative and partisan members of the Republican Party, who during his 4 terms as a congressman, received the NRA's highest endorsement. So for him and for people like him, to have a change of heart on the issue gun control in the aftermath the Sandy Hook shootings is commendable.

It's extremely unfortunate however that this change of heart on his and their parts has come only after 28 people,  20 of whom were innocent 6 & 7 year old children lost their lives before they had really every begun.

Nonetheless, I commend Joe Scarborough's change of heart and thinking on this issue. This is a very complicated issue that can't be legislated in one swipe of the pen. As Scarborough states in his commentary, much more needs to be done to recognize people with mental health issue and to see that they received treatment. And to make sure that guns aren't getting into the hands of unstable people.

Conflicts Plague Criminal Probe of Lt. Gov. Guadagno & Pension Scam

Is it the sound of time passing on a conflicted, year-old criminal investigation of an alleged $245,000 pension fraud involving New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno?

Or is it the countdown to an embarrassing scandal for her boss, Gov. Chris Christie — a rising political star who declared pension reform as his "biggest governmental victory?"

The state's investigation is assigned to the Attorney's General's Division of Criminal Justice, a unit where Guadagno once served as deputy director. Despite the apparent conflict, Christie has not appointed a special prosecutor.

Public pension abuses are so rampant in New Jersey that even the agency investigating Guadagno has its own controversy.  Twenty-three supervisors and investigators with the Attorney General and DCJ are using legal loopholes to draw salaries and pension pay

After Helicopter Ride Christie Targets Medicaid Recipients

Filling in for Ed Shultz on last night's "Ed Show" was the Reverend Al Sharpton. I am not a big fan of Reverend Al and I'm even less of a fan after seeing him fill in for Ed Shultz as Shultz finishes his suspension from MSNBC for calling right-wing talk show host Laura Ingram a "slut".

Sharpton's often seemed like he was reading from a script and his delivery seemed forced and stiff. It was a little difficult to watch but I watched because I was interested to see the story that was going to be presented about Governor Christie and the aftermath of his taking a helicopter to his son's baseball game.

The segment itself really dealt with two issues, the aftermath of Christie's helicopter ride and his reimbursing the State for the cost of the ride from Montvale to Princeton and the governor's proposal to end Medicaid for a family of 3 making more than $5,300 a year and Individuals making more than $3,000 a year and now receive states Medicaid coverage will lose it entirely.

This is something that I had not heard before and I think it is deplorable and inhumane to even consider such an option. Sharpton had in studio NJ State Senator Joe Vitale and a NJ resident Deborah Shupenko, who will be losing her medicaid coverage under Christie's plan, to discuss how reprehensible this would be if it goes into effect.

NJ Congressman (and Physicist) Rush Holt Discusses Japanese Nuclear Meltdown With Rachel Maddow

Many people forget or don't know that NJ Congressman Rush Holt (D-12) is also a nuclear physicist. He appeared in a segment on tonight's episode of the Rachel Maddow on MSNBC.

Holt talked about whether or not the U.S has taken the threat of natural disasters seriously enough and what lessons the U.S can take from the mistakes in Japan after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
