Keith Olbermann: Statement To The Viewers Of Countdown

The following statement was released earlier tonight by MSNBC's Countdown host Keith Olbermann. Olbermann wishes to thank his many loyal viewers for sticking by him and supporting him while he was suspended from the airwaves for contributing to the campaigns of three Democrats that were running for Congress:

I want to sincerely thank you for the honor of your extraordinary and ground-rattling support.

Your efforts have been integral to the remedying of these recent events, and the results should remind us of the power of individuals spontaneously acting together to correct injustices great or small.

...I also wish to apologize to you viewers for having precipitated such anxiety and unnecessary drama. You should know that I mistakenly violated an inconsistently applied rule – which I previously knew nothing about -- that pertains to the process by which such political contributions are approved by NBC.

Certainly this mistake merited a form of public acknowledgment and/or internal warning, and an on-air discussion about the merits of limitations on such campaign contributions by all employees of news organizations.

Instead, after my representative was assured that no suspension was contemplated, I was suspended without a hearing, and learned of that suspension through the media.

You should also know that I did not attempt to keep any of these political contributions secret; I knew they would be known to you and the rest of the public. I did not make them through a relative, friend, corporation, PAC, or any other intermediary, and I did not blame them on some kind of convenient 'mistake' by their recipients.

When a website contacted NBC about one of the donations, I immediately volunteered that there were in fact three of them; and contrary to much of the subsequent reporting, I immediately volunteered to explain all this, on-air and off, in the fashion MSNBC desired.

I genuinely look forward to rejoining you on Countdown on Tuesday, to begin the repayment of your latest display of support and loyalty - support and loyalty that is truly mutual.

It's good to have you back Keith, I'll be watching!

Rockefeller Center, A Communist's Mecca ?

Fox News's Glenn Beck has really gone off the deep end.

In his attempt to push his radical right wing conspiracy theories and propaganda, Beck my have gone to far. Beck stated on his show the other night that NYC's Rockefeller Center is a communist mecca because of the art novue style art that decorates the GE building.

Beck went on to imply that anyone who works in Rockefeller Center complex is a communist but what he failed to realize is that Fox News studios itself is located in Rockefeller Center. Progressive, Fascists and Communists unite!

Countdown's Keith Olbermann had a hysterical response to Beck's ridiculous "Rockefeller was a communist" rant.

Olbermann Interviews Water Boarded Radio Host, "Mancow" Muller

Right-wing radio host Eric "Mancow" Muller, who had once called Barack Obama "a secret Muslim" had been saying waterboarding isn't torture. But unlike Sean Hannity and others, he put his money where his mouth was, and went through with being waterboarded to prove it.

He lasted a 6 seconds saying its worse than anything he ever imagined, equating it as being worse than drowning. He said that it is definitely torture and he would have said anything in the world to make them stop.

Keith Olbermann congratulated him on his efforts and has donated $10,000 to the Veteran of Valour charity founded by Sgt. Klay South, who administered the waterboarding.

Watch the interview and then you can decide if waterboarding is torture or not:

Cheney Has Moles in Obama Administration, Reporter Says

Raw Story -
Former Vice President Dick Cheney has moles in the Obama government which report back to him from the Pentagon, investigative reporter Seymour Hersh told NPR and MSNBC on Tuesday.

Speaking with NPR's Terri Gross, Hersh revealed that the former Vice President -- who he characterized as "really smart" -- has individuals that report back to him from key positions in government. He called these individuals "stay-behinds," an intelligence term generally applied to insiders left behind in foreign governments after the occupying power is driven out.

"He’s put people back," Hersh said. "They call it a stay-behind. It’s sort of an intelligence term of art. When you leave a country and, you know, you’ve driven out, you know, you’ve lost the war. You leave people behind. It’s a stay-behind that you can continue to contacts with, to do sabotage, whatever you want to do.

"Cheney’s left a stay behind," Hersh continued. "He’s got people in a lot of agencies that still tell him what’s going on. Particularly in defense, obviously. Also in the NSA, there’s still people that talk to him. He still knows what’s going on. Can he still control policy up to a point? Probably up to a point, a minor point. But he’s still there. He’s still a presence."

The Barracuda Bites Back

I don't know how anyone else feels about this, but i just can't get enough Sarah Palin and those wacky Wassilla Hillbillies.
Palin just seems to be getting more and more desperate and defensive about her run for vice-president as seen in this segment of Countdown with Keith Olbermann. In this impromptu press conference upon her return to Alaska yesterday, Palin sounds frazzled and ready to cry. Keith has Margaret Carlson comment on the Palin press conference.

Joe The Unlicensed Plumber Making A Fool Of Himself

Is he a plummer, a country singer, a writer or does he want to run for Congress? Apparently he wants it all and he hired his own publicist to help him get it.

Joe "the Plummer" Wurzelbacher has become the latest american to achieve their 15 minutes of fame. I can only hope that it ends as soon as the election does. Keith Olbermann, I think agrees.
