Buono For Governor Picks Up Two More Endorsements
Yesterday it was announced that Congressman Frank Pallone (D-6) will be endorsing Sen. Barbara Buono's campaign for governor (an official announcement will be made either Monday or Tuesday).
Today, Buono has picked up the backing of the Ocean County Democrats and it's Chairman Wyatt Earp at their County Committee meeting in Toms River this morning.
Earp stated:
The endorsement of Buono by the Ocean County Dems should not come as a big surprise. Chairman Earp was in attendance on January 18th when Sen. Buono accepted the endorsement of the Monmouth County Democrats at the I.B.E.W. Local 400 union hall in Wall Township. Earp and Monmouth County's chairman Vin Gopal, have been working closely together for well over a year, to create synergy between the two organizations, with the goal to turn these two "Red" counties back into the "Blue" counties they once were .

Earp stated:
"As a former Budget chair, Barbara Buono has the experience to turn New Jersey’s economy around, while protecting investments we need in education and infrastructure. New Jersey, it’s time to fix the NJ economy and rebuild. We have the opportunity to elect the first Democratic woman governor in the history of New Jersey. We here in Ocean County look forward to working hard for her not just now, but also going forward."

Buono Accepts Monmouth County Dems Endorsement for Governor
Last night at the I.B.E.W. Local 400 union hall in Wall Township, the Monmouth County Democrats held, what was billed as a "New Years Party with a special guest speaker" to mingle with fellow Democrats and ring in 2013. What it turned out to be was a huge reception to endorse State Senator Barbara Buono as the Monmouth Democrats choice for Governor in 2013.
When I walked in, the hall was packed with nearly 300 party faithful all eager to hear one of the worse kept secrets that I can remember in recent years, which was that the Monmouth Dems were endorsing Senator Buono for Governor and that she would be in attendance to accept that endorsement.
When Chairman Gopal stated before introducing Buono, “We’re going to work hard for you, senator, not just in June, to make sure you’re the next governor of New Jersey,” the crowed in attendance roared with approval.
When Senator Buono took to the podium, she accepted the Monmouth Dems endorsement she talked tough about Governor Christie's failed policies and empty promises, about how nearly 1 in 10 residents in the state are unemployed with no job plan to put them back to work and how his 2016 presidential aspirations have hurt and will continue to hurt New Jerseyians.
By the time she was finished, there was no doubt in the room that she would be a very strong and formidable challenger. I was once again impressed.
If you want to read a more indepth accounting of what went on last night, san my bias, Max Pizzaro of PolitckerNJ and Mark Bonamo of NJ.com have very good write-ups today.
Here are a few more pictures from last night of Senator Buono that I took:

Over 130 County Committee People Came Out To Show Support For Vin Gopal At DFA Rally With Jim Dean

| Packed house at IBEW local 400 for DFA rally in support of Vin Gopal |
It was standing room only this past Sunday when Democrats from around Monmouth County showed up at the IBEW Local 400 Union Hall in Wall Township to attend a Democracy For America (DFA) rally in support of Vin Gopal's candidacy for Monmouth County Democratic Chairman.
The event featured national DFA Chairman Jim Dean, who gave Gopal the organization's endorsement for the Monmouth County Chair position. Joining Dean in endorsing Vin were Monmouth County Mayors, Matthew Doherty (Belmar), Julie Shreck (Bradley Beach), Mike Ryan (Lake Como), Randy Bishop (Neptune), Ed Johnson (Asbury Park) and many other elected officials.
It really was quite an event. In recent memory, I can't remember being in a room, surrounded by so many vocally supportive people. It was refreshing to hear all the enthusiastic hooting and hollering taking place in support of not only Vin Gopal but also for the many progressive ideas and principals mentioned by those that stood in front of the crowd to speak and show support for Vin. It kind of reminded me more of gospel revival meeting than a political rally in support of a candidate.
I am glad that I was able to attend the DFA rally and show my support for Vin Gopal's candidacy, if the enthusiasm that was shown in that union hall is any indication of things to come, Vin shouldn't have any problems winning the Chairmanship of the Monmouth Dems and Democrats in general, should make out very well county wide this November.
Here are a few pictures that I took at the event:
