ISSUED TUESDAY, JULY 19TH, 2011 - Arrests do not indicate convictions

On July 13, 2011 at approximately 5:55 pm Patrolman Jason Caruso and Patrolman Donald Coates were on patrol in the area of Kunkel Park when they observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot. The officers approached the vehicle at which point they observed Marijuana and Cocaine in plain view inside the car.

The officers conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrests of Kimberly Campo, age 26, from Fairfield Avenue in Belford, NJ; Adam Stranges, age 19, from Seabreeze Avenue in Middletown, NJ, and a 17 year old male juvenile from Belford, NJ, for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana, Possession of Cocaine, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Possession of Ecstasy, and Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Cocaine within 500 feet of a Public Park.

The officers located the Ecstasy after conducting a search of the vehicle. The officers also discovered two outstanding Contempt of Court warrants issued by the Middletown and Highlands Municipal Courts for Stranges arrest.

The officers seized the vehicle for possible forfeiture and all three subjects were transported to police headquarters for processing. The 17 year old juvenile was released to his parents pending a court date. Campo was held on $15,000.00 bail set by Judge Richard Thompson and Stranges was being held on $18,500.00 bail also set by Judge Richard Thompson.

On July 13, 2011 at approximately 10:00 pm Patrolman Robert McNair was on patrol in the area of Ideal Beach when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot. Officer McNair approached the vehicle at which point he observed a hypodermic syringe and a bag of Heroin in plain view inside the car.

Officer McNair conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrests of Larry Welch, age 52, from Highland Avenue in Keansburg, NJ, and Theresa Causey, age 50, from Church Street in Keansburg, NJ, for Possession of Heroin and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. Both subjects were transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released pending a court date.

On July 15, 2011 at approximately 11:50 am Patrolman Albert Scott was dispatched to a residence on Center Avenue to assist the Monmouth County Probation Department. The Probation Department was at the residence to investigate probation violations when they located a Marijuana pipe sitting on a table.

Officer Scott conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of Lisa Mirabile, age 44, from Center Avenue in Leonardo, NJ, for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The officer also located an outstanding Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Keansburg Municipal Court for Mirabile’s arrest.

Mirabile was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and held on $130.00 bail.

On July 15, 2011 at approximately 12:50 pm Patrolman Richard Raike was off duty in the area of the “Mike’s Bike’s” bike shop located in the Leonardo section of Middletown when he observed a 14 year old juvenile attempt to steal a bicycle that was on display in front of the store. Patrolman Raike observed the juvenile try to remove the bike from a pole where it had been chained.

The juvenile, from Center Avenue in Middletown, fled the area when he was approached. Officer Raike was able to locate the juvenile at the Leonardo McDonalds’s a short distance from the bike shop. The suspect was wearing a face mask when located. Officer Raike detained the juvenile until Patrolman Keith Hirschbein arrived on scene.

The suspect was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On July 18, 2011 at approximately 6:55 pm Patrolman Jason Caruso and Patrolman Donald Coates were on patrol in the area of Heights Terrace when they observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the road. The officers approached the vehicle to speak with the occupants at which point they detected a strong odor of raw Marijuana coming from inside the car. The officers also observed Marijuana in plain view inside the car.

Officers Coates and Caruso conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrests of Corey Blascak, age 19, from Ironwood Court in Middletown, NJ; Jeffrey Chapman, age 19, from Birchwood Lane in Middletown, NJ, and a 17 year old Manahawkin, NJ, juvenile female for Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

All subjects were transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released pending a court date.

Crime Scene Middletown: Middletown Police Arrest Bartender And Other Recent Activity

WEDNESDAY, 13 JULY 2011 -

MIDDLETOWN, NJ - On July 9, 2011 the Middletown Police Detective Bureau conducted an Alcohol Beverage Control inspection at the Junction Bar and Liquors located on Main Street in Belford. The purpose of the inspection was to enforce ordinances and laws pertaining to the sale of alcoholic beverages. The detectives conducted an investigation which resulted in the issuance of numerous ordinance violations. The detectives determined that none of the employees of the establishment had ABC cards which are required to serve alcohol.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of an employee, identified as Thomas Dundon, age 31, from Peters Place in Red Bank, NJ, being arrested on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Asbury Park Municipal Court. He was being held on bail.

Also arrested was a bartender, identified as David Miller, age 50, from Patterson Lane in Red Bank, NJ, for Possession of Cocaine and Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine after police located the Cocaine in his possession. Police say the cocaine was packaged for sale.

The detectives closed the establishment pending further investigation.

On July 8, 2011 at approximately 6:35 pm Patrolman Brady Carr responded to the Bottle King Liquor Store on Highway 35 in reference to a report of a juvenile who attempted to purchase alcohol with a fake driver’s license.

Upon arrival Officer Carr conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of a 17 year old female juvenile from Center Avenue in Rumson, NJ, being arrested for Possession of a False Driver’s License. She was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released to her father.

On July 8, 2011 at approximately 8:30 pm Patrolman Brady Carr responded to the Bottle King Liquor Store in reference to a report of an underage subject who attempted to purchase alcohol with another person’s driver’s license and debit card. Upon arrival the officer conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of Justin Horowitz, age 19, from Brandywine Way in Middletown, NJ, being arrested for Fraudulent Use of a Debit Card.

Horowitz was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On July 8, 2011 at approximately 10:00 pm Patrolman Keith Hirschbein was dispatched to the area of Hartshorne Park to meet with a Park Ranger in reference to a report of three subjects possibly engaging in narcotics activity. Upon arrival the officer met with the Park Ranger who advised the officer that he had located a parked vehicle and approached the occupants to check on their well-being. While speaking with the occupants the ranger detected an odor of Marijuana coming from the car.

Officer Hirschbein conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrests of Christopher Marsillo, age 18, from Laurel Brook Road in Lincroft, NJ, being arrested for Possession of Under 50 Grams of Marijuana; Cole Samuels, age 18, from Navesink Avenue in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, being arrested for Possession of Under 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and James Caronia, age 18, from Roberta Drive in Middletown, NJ, being arrested for Possession of Under 50 Grams of Marijuana.

All three subjects were transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released pending a court date.

On July 8, 2011 at approximately 5:45 pm Patrolman Keith Hirschbein was on patrol in the area of McMahon Park when he observed a Park Ranger investigating a complaint involving alcohol. The officer assisted the ranger and located a crumpled up dollar bill containing Marijuana in the area.

Officer Hirschbein conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of Edward Salkow, age 22, from Salem Avenue in Elizabeth, NJ, being arrested for Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana. The officer also located a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Newark Municipal Court for his arrest.The officer continued his investigation and located a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Roselle Municipal Court for a second subject, identified as Thorn Ruiz, age 23, from Hayes Avenue in Elizabeth, NJ.

Both subjects were transported to police headquarters for processing and were released pending a court date.

On July 8, 2011 at approximately 2:55 pm Patrolman Richard Belmonte and Patrolman Keith Hirschbein responded to the Foodtown in reference to a report of a shoplifting. Upon arrival security advised the officers that they observed two juveniles attempt to steal approximately $20.00 worth of food and candy.

The officers conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrests of a 17 year old female juvenile from Vermont Avenue in Port Monmouth, NJ, and a 16 year old female juvenile from Green Field Way in Belford, NJ. The 16 year old female was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana. Both subjects were released pending a court date.

On July 9, 2011 at approximately 5:25 pm Patrolman Keith Hirschbein responded to the area of Highway 36 and Palmer Avenue in Middletown in reference to a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival the officer conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of Jamie Yeager, age 29, from Highway 105 in Vidor, Texas, being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

Yeager was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released pending a court date.

On July 9, 2011 at approximately 12:28 pm Patrolman John Mele was given a description of a vehicle possibly being operated by a drunk driver which was called in by a citizen who had been driving behind the car. Sgt. Bagileo and Officer Mele located the vehicle a short time later in the area of Church Street and Liberty Street. The driver, identified as Sean Stewart, age 48, from Kimberly Court in Middletown, NJ, appeared to be asleep behind the wheel.

Officer Mele conducted an investigation which resulted in Stewart being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. He was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with the additional offense of Refusal to Submit Breath Samples. He was processed and released pending a court date.

On July 9, 2011 at approximately 10:55 pm Patrolman Christian Clark responded to the Lincroft Acme in reference to a report of a criminal mischief to a motor vehicle. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the owner of the vehicle who informed him that a subject, identified as Evan Raczkiewicz, age 18, from Newman Springs Road in Lincroft, NJ, purposely ran and jumped on his car causing damage to the roof.

Officer Clark conducted an investigation which resulted in Rackiewicz being arrested for Criminal Mischief and Underage Possession of Alcohol. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On July 10, 2011 at approximately 7:55 pm Patrolman Michael Reuter responded to the Bayshore Waterfront Park to assist a Park Ranger who had two subjects detained for possession of Marijuana. Upon arrival the Park Ranger advised Officer Reuter that he was walking in the area when he observed the two subjects rolling what appeared to be a Marijuana Cigar. The Park Ranger confiscated the Marijuana and detained the subjects until the police arrived.

Officer Reuter placed both subjects under arrest. They were identified as Timothy Enny, age 18, from Arthur Place in Middletown, NJ and a seventeen year old male juvenile from Port Monmouth, NJ. Both subjects were transported to police headquarters where they were charged with Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They were processed and released pending a court date.

On July 10, 2011 at approximately 9:30 pm police responded to the area of Powell Avenue in reference to a report of a large party. Upon arrival officers located over 100 juveniles in the area. Police received numerous calls about intoxicated juveniles running through yards and standing in the streets. Corporal James Keenan was attempting to the clear the area when a 16 year old female juvenile, from Maplewood Drive in Middletown, ignored numerous requests to leave the area.

Corporal Keenan approached the female who began to yell and scream and curse at the officer. Officer Keenan then attempted to arrest her at which point she pushed his hand away and attempted to push him in the chest. Officer Keenan was able to take her into custody and placed her in his patrol car. The juvenile then attempted to take some of the officer’s personal property from the patrol car.

She was transported to police headquarters where she was charged with Theft, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest. She was processed and released to her father pending a court date.

On July 10, 2011 at approximately 1:45 am Sgt. William Colangelo responded to the area of Port Monmouth road in reference to a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival the officer located the driver, identified as Damian Neri, age 23, from Port Monmouth Road in Middletown, NJ, sitting on a curb. The officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.

Sgt. Colangelo conducted an investigation which resulted in Neri being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving and Driving While Revoked. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On July 11, 2011 at approximately 4:30 pm Patrolman Raymond Sofield responded to the area of the Shore Crest Mini Park for report of possible narcotics activity taking place. The police desk has received a call about a meeting that was taking place in the park between two people during which narcotics were going to be purchased.

Office Sofield conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of a 15 year old male juvenile from Linden Avenue in Red Bank, NJ, for Loitering with Intent to Distribute Narcotics. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released to his parents.

On July 11, 2011 at approximately 2:10 pm Patrolman Nicholas Fenezia was on patrol in the area of the Maguires Grove Apartment Complex when he conducted a motor vehicle stop for an expired registration. While speaking with the driver, identified as Dean Ferry, age 26, from Kimberly Court in Middletown, he discovered an outstanding Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Keyport Municipal Court for Ferry’s arrest. Officer Fenezia placed Ferry under arrest.

Ferry advised the officer that he had bail money in his apartment and requested that the officer follow him into the apartment in order for him to get the money. Officer Fenezia followed Ferry into the apartment at which point he detected a strong odor of raw Marijuana. The officer then observed a Marijuana grow operation inside an open closet.

Officer Fenezia continued his investigation which resulted in the recovery of Marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The investigation resulted in Ferry being charged with the additional offenses of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana within 500 feet of a Park, Possession of over 50 Grams of Marijuana, and Manufacturing over 50 Grams of Marijuana. Also arrested was Ferry’s girlfriend, Kristen Reedy, age 24, also from Kimberly Court in Middletown, NJ. She was charged with the same offenses as Ferry.

Both subjects were transported to police headquarters where they were processed. Reedy was released on her own recognizance pending a court date and Ferry was held on $1,000.00 bail with no 10% option.

On July 13, 2011 at approximately 1:50 am Patrolman James Beirne was on patrol in the area of Cherry Tree Farm Road when he pulled over a vehicle for multiple motor vehicle violations. Officer Beirne approached the driver, identified as Sergio Amoedo, age 23, from Stone Road in Hazlet, NJ, and detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.

Officer Beirne conducted an investigation which resulted in Amoedo being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On July 13, 2011 Detective Adam Finck arrested Dennis Cernek, age 51, from 37th Street in North Bergen, NJ, for Theft after a four month investigation. Cernek used a dating website, Plenty-O-Fish.com, as well as other websites, to meet his victim. After dating for a while Cernek stole jewelry from her home.

He was processed and was being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in Freehold, NJ, on $10,000.00 bail set by Judge Michael Pugliese.

Thorn Ruiz, age 23, from Hayes Avenue in Elizabeth, NJ, arrested on July 8, 2011 by Patrolman Brady Carr on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Roselle Municipal Court. He was released on his own recognizance.

Angela Boden Scotti, age 47, from Shore Boulevard in Keansburg, NJ, arrested on July 9, 2011 by Patrolman Charles Higgins on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Jersey City Municipal Court. She was released after posting $100.00 bail.

Phillip Roenbeck, age 19, from Morningside Avenue in Middletown, NJ, arrested on July 9, 2011 by Patrolman John Soltysik on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Oceanport Municipal Court. He was released after posting $750.00 bail.

Crime Scene Middletown: Recent Activity Around Town From The Past Week

On May 8, 2011 at approximately 2:45 pm Patrolman Keith Hirschbein was on patrol in the area of McMahon Park when he observed two juveniles in the area of the hockey rink. Officer Hirschbein approached the two juveniles at which point he detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the area.

On May 7, 2011 at approximately 2:40 am Patrolman Raymond Sofield was on patrol in the area of Pearl Street when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the road with its interior light on. The vehicle was occupied by two subjects, identified as William Drummer, age 23, from Leslie Lane and Michael Cavalier, age 23, from Ned Court.

Patrolman Sofield approached the vehicle and detected a strong odor of raw Marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. The officer continued his investigation which resulted in both subjects being arrested and charged with Possession of under 50 grams of Marijuana.

Both subjects were transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released pending a court date.

On May 7, 2011 at approximately 4:00 am Corporal James Keenan and Corporal Thomas Meckier responded to a report of an accident at Highway 35 near Twinbrooks Drive. Upon arrival the officers determined that a vehicle driven by Matthew Lennox, age 21, from Walker Terrace, had driven through a work zone and struck the rear of a painting truck with an arrow board attached.

The officers continued their investigation which resulted in Lennox being charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Open alcohol in a motor vehicle, Reckless driving, Failing to wear a seatbelt, Prohibited use of a cell phone, and Failing to maintain lanes. He was released at Jersey Shore Medical Center where he was taken for treatment of his injuries sustained during the accident.

On May 6, 2011 at approximately 6:50 pm police responded to a residence on Main Street in Belford in reference to a report of a man who was acting violently. Upon arrival Patrolman Nicholas Fenezia located the subject, identified as Michael Thomas, age 20, from Main Street in Belford at the residence.

Thomas was screaming and shouting profanities which caused a small crowd to gather in the area. He refused numerous requests from Officer Fenezia to calm down at which point he was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.

He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On May 6, 2011 at approximately 7: 35 pm Detective Sullivan was off duty in the area of the Kohls Shopping center when he observed a subject, identified as William Deppisch, age 23, from Campbell Avenue in Belford, in the area of the stores. Detective Sullivan was aware that there was a $3,500 Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Holmdel Municipal Court for Deppisch’s arrest.

Detective Sullivan contacted police headquarters and requested a patrol officer to respond. Patrolman Charles Higgins arrived on scene and located Deppisch in the area. Deppisch was arrested on the warrant and was also found to be in possession of Alprazolam pills and Marijuana.

Deppisch was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with Possession of a prescription legend drug, Possession with intent to distribute a prescription legend drug, and Possession of under 50 grams of Marijuana. Deppisch was held on $53,500.00 bail with no 10% option set by Judge James Berube.

On May 6, 2011 at approximately 8:25 pm police responded to the Port Monmouth Foodtown in reference to a report of a shoplifting. Upon arrival Patrolman Michael Reuter was advised by store security that they observed the suspect, identified as Adam Stranges, age 19, from Seabreeze Avenue in Middletown, attempt to leave the store with two bottles of Captain Morgan’s Rum at which point he was detained.

Officer Reuter placed Stranges under arrest and transported him to police headquarters where he was charged with Shoplifting and Possession of Alcohol under age. He was processed and released pending a court date.

On May 5, 2011 at approximately 3:45 pm police responded to Normandy Park in reference to a report of a person who had found a baggie containing Marijuana and wished to turn it into the police. Upon arrival Patrolman Nicholas Fenezia retrieved the Marijuana from the caller and began an investigation.

Officer Fenezia was able to determine that the Marijuana belonged to a 15 year old male juvenile who was playing in the park. Patrolman Fenezia arrested the juvenile and transported him to police headquarters where he was charged with Possession of under 50 grams of Marijuana. The juvenile was processed and released to his father pending a court date.

On May 5, 2011 at approximately 1:30 am Police Officer Janine Kennedy was on patrol in the area of Leonardville Road in Belford when she observed a vehicle being operated in an unsafe manner. Officer Kennedy stopped the vehicle and approached the driver.

While speaking with the driver, identified as Vincent Usuriello, age 33, from Henry Place in Middletown, Officer Kennedy detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.

The officer conducted an investigation which resulted in Usuriello being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

Usuriello was transported to police headquarters where he was issued additional summonses for Reckless Driving and Failing to Signal a Turn. He was processed and released.

On May 4, 2011 at approximately 12:50 pm Corporal Joseph Glynn responded to Middletown High School South in reference to a report of a student in possession of narcotics. Upon arrival Officer Glynn conducted an investigation which resulted in a 15 year old female student being arrested for Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Possession of Naproxen, Perbutalin, Cyclobenza and Amitriptyl. (All prescription medications). The student was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released to her parents.

Erin Figel, age 25, from Algonquin Avenue in Oceanport, NJ, arrested on May 2, 2011 by Patrolman John Mele on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. She was released after posting $1,500.00 bail.

Kyle Hazard, age 21, from Willow Street in Point Pleasant, NJ, arrested on May 4, 2011 by Patrolman John Mele on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility.
Carissa Bossert, age 22, from Woods Ends Road in Middletown, arrested on May 4, 2011 by Patrolman Charles Higgins on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. She was released after posting $439.00 bail.

Crime Scene Middletown: MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES AFTER MOTOR VEHICLE STOP ON TINDALL RD.

On January 30, 2011 at approximately 11:00 pm Sergeant James Prosinski was on patrol in the area of Tindall Road when he stopped a vehicle for having improper tint on its windows. Patrolman Richard Fulham, who was also in the area, arrived as back up.

After approaching the vehicle and obtaining the driver’s credentials, Sergeant Prosinski returned to his vehicle to conduct a records check on the driver, identified as Jeremy Browne, age 19, from Spring Street in Red Bank. While Sergeant Prosinski was conducting the records check Patrolman Fulham remained at the vehicle and began speaking with Browne. At this point Browne turned the heat on in his vehicle and the odor of raw marijuana began to come from the interior.

Patrolman Fulham recognized the odor of the raw marijuana and requested a narcotics canine team respond to the scene. Patrolman Christopher Tuberion and his canine partner Mako of the Union Beach Police Department arrived on scene and conducted a search of the exterior of the vehicle. K-9 Mako hit on the trunk of the vehicle which indicated the presence of a narcotic substance.

After advising Browne about the canine’s indication, Sergeant Prosinski and Patrolman Fulham received written consent from Browne to conduct a physical search of his vehicle. While searching the trunk they located a black back pack which contained a jar filled with green vegetation which the officers recognized as Marijuana and another jar which contained pills believed to be Ecstasy and a generic brand of Xanax. Further search of the back pack revealed numerous short straws and rolling papers used to injest narcotics as well as a plastic bag which contained a white powdery substance believed to Cocaine. The officers also located $2421.00 in currency and written payment records.

Browne was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was charged with Possession of Ecstasy, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of over 50 grams of Marijuana, Possession of Xanax, Possession with the intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Possession with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone, and Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He was held on $55,000.00 bail with no 10% option set by Judge Richard Thompson.
