December 1, 2014 Middletown Township Committee Meeting

At the last meeting of the Middletown Township Committee on December 1st, the Committee heard an appeal from Mr. Arne Henn and his attorney requesting a license to open a business to buy and sell precious metals. The application was denied based on information obtained by Middletown Police Chief Craig Weber (attached to the meeting agenda you will find Mr. Henn's application and background information).

A discussion took place regarding the installation of a sprinkler system at the Lincroft Village Green Park. Many unanswered details were provided during the public portion of the meeting when details were permitted to be presented.

It was suggested that a economic profile be drafted and posted on the township website in order to attract businesses to the town.

There was discussion to identify faith-based volunteer groups to provide relief to those that are in need in the community and eliminate the responsibility of government to provide this service.

Earth Day Celebration April 20

Green activities abound as part of Middletown’s Earth Day on Saturday, April 20. Start the day by helping at one of three township parks from 10 am to 2pm. Volunteers are needed to help with trail maintenance at the Coe Property located at 89 Sleep Hollow Road; trail mapping and establishment at the Campo Property located near Cottage Gate, Rt 36 southbound and for park pick-up at the Lincroft Village Green on Newman Springs Road. Closed toed shoes are required. Bug spray, bottled water and gloves are suggested.

Head over to Poricy Park, 345 Oak Hill Road from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm for an afternoon of fun, games and education. The afternoon will include a musical performance by Miss Sherri featuring Go Go Green; gardening tips and money-saving hints provided by Rutgers’ New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station; native garden plant identification; the Follow a Drop of Water Workshop & Hike; a recycled arts and crafts display and workshop; and recycled games. Free Saplings will be given to the first 150 families. Recycling items to be collected at the event include electronics and crayons.

Support SONIC (Save Our Neighborhood's Integrity and Character) and the LVGA in opposing the Four Ponds (AVAYA) Proposed Development Plan.

SONIC's lawyer, Ron Gasiorowski as well as LVGA Directors will speak about the ongoing appeal process and the status of the proposal.  Come and hear more about our efforts to stop this development and have your questions addressed.

Although the Middletown Planning Board unanimously denied the Four Ponds Development application, Four Ponds has appealed the decision. SONIC, through its attorney, Ron Gasiorowski, needs to be an integral part of the appeal process.
