Glenn Mason says "Thank You"

What an experience it has been for me to have had the privilege to run in the campaign for Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Immediate thanks go out to all the volunteers who gave their time and support to help Amy and myself through this election. There is no campaign without the tireless efforts of volunteers, and I cannot thank them enough. Thanks to my family and life long friends for their unconditional support, and to true and loyal friends like Lenny, Erv and Joe Caliendo who were always there to help organize, motivate and lend their experience. Their support was unwavering and constant. I would also like to thank the Municipal Chairs, the Mayors and Committee people and the Staff at the County office as well as all the Union’s which supported us.

If it were not for Chairman Scudiery, I would never have been given this tremendous opportunity and chance to serve the people of Monmouth County.

It was a pleasure and an honor to make a run for the Office of Freeholder, and without the support from both Freeholders John DAmico and Barbara McMorrow, I am not sure I would have learned as much or made it as far as I did.

A special thanks goes to my running mate and future Freeholder, Amy Mallet. The people of this County are going to see what a brilliant and compassionate person she is as she serves this County. Once again I appreciate the chance I was given, and my only regret is I will not be able to serve the people of this county.

I believe that in future elections, with people like Chairman Scudiery and Chairman Oxley (republican), you will see better run elections with less “DIRTY” politics and more attention on the issues.

In closing, all should know that if it was not for Mike Mangan, County Director who stepped up and tirelessly took over my campaign, I would not have been able to finish as well as I did. I thank you all. I will always remember what a life changing, memorable experience this has been, and the many great friends I have met along the way.

Food Pantry of Keyport Fundraiser a Great Success Thanks to Mallet & Mason

I attended the food drive / fundraiser for the Keyport Food Pantry last night in Hazlet. The event, which was held at the Shore Cafe was a great success thanks in large part to the efforts of Amy Mallet and Glenn Mason, the two Democratic Candidates for Monmouth County Freeholder.

It was a lively event attended by over 50 people, all of which donated non-perishable food stuffs or contributed monetarily to the Food Pantry,  a SUV full of food was gathered and more than $1500 was collected. 

I recorded the following interview with Mallet & Mason,it's a little to hear Amy and Glenn over all of the people but it give you an idea how lively and crowded the Shore Cafe was.

Also, a special shout out goes to Leonard Inzerillo who helped to put the event together. It was a special event that tried to give a little back to the community as we head into the holiday season with tough economic times ahead for some of us.

Monmouth Republican Freeholder Candidates at Odds

Back on Sept. 25th I posted about the bad blood and animosity between the two Monmouth County Republican Freeholder Candidates, Lillian Bury and John Curly. I mentioned how Burry and Curly did not get along and that the both could not stand each other. I also mentioned that Curly was snubbed by Burry and was not invited to a fundraiser of hers.

Well, it seems as though the bad relations between the two have been noticed by others. The Asbury Park Press's Bob Jordan wrote about it in yesterday's paper:

"Republican Lillian G. Burry is running for another term as a Monmouth County freeholder, but don't go to the Burry campaign Web site's five pages of text and 21 pictures if you want to learn about her running mate.

That's because John P. Curley isn't mentioned on the site or included in any of the photographs. Indeed, there is no hint that the Republicans have a two-candidate ticket in the Nov. 4 county elections.

The county elections annually feature heated Democrat versus Republican contests, but this year's version has added Republican vs. Republican fireworks."...

This obvious split between the republican ticket should be a boost to their democratic rivals Glenn Mason and Amy Mallet, dissention amongst the ranks this close to an election is never good. Lets see if Mason and Mallet can capitalize on it.

Monmouth County Democratic Candidates are walking the Bayshore

Monmouth County Freeholder Candidates Glenn Mason and Amy Mallet were both out and about the Bayshore this weekend.

Mason and Mallet joined the Middletown Democratic Candidates for Township Committee, Pat Walsh and Jim Grenafege, walking Middletown's 6th district over the weekend.

The 6th district encompasses Middletown's Port Monmouth section east of Rt. 36 to the water front.

The candidates  said that they were greeted very positively by residents in the area, who are very upset with the local republicans in control of Middletown and complained about the  condition of many of the roads in the neighborhood, most of which had not been paved in over 20 years and flooding.

Word has it the Glenn Mason and Amy Mallet will be joining Walsh and Grenafege again next weekend walking another yet to be determined district in Middletown 

Freeholder D'Amico unequivocally denies MoreMonmouthMusing and Voice of Reason false allegations

More Monmouth Musings and the Voice of  Disinformation have been going on recently about how Freeholder John D'Amico is calling on Democratic Freeholder Candidate Amy Mallet to be dropped from the party's ticket this fall and about how Freeholder D'Amico and fellow Democratic Freeholder Barbara McMorrow aren't getting along, insomuch as that McMorrow is considering not seeking re-election next year because she does not get along with D'Amico.

This interested me so much that I decided to call Freeholder D'Amico to see if there is any truth in these assertions. I got off the phone with Freeholder D'Amico just a little while ago and he made it clear there is no truth whatsoever in any statements that he has ever wanted or sought to have Amy Mallet dropped from the county's ticket. He also stated to me that there is absolutely no possibility that Mallet will be dropped.

As for the false and vicious allegation that Freeholder D'Amico and Barbara McMorrow do not get along and that he treats her with such disrespect that she would not consider seeking re-election because she can't work with him any longer, D'Amico stated to me that "I have the utmost respect for Barbara McMorrow as a person and Freeholder and I look forward to working with her now and for many years to come".    

Freeholder D'Amico added that he doesn't put any stock in More Monmouth Musings, Voice of Reason or any blogs like it, and he looks forward to working with both Amy Mallet and her running mate Glenn Mason, after their election to the Board of Choosen Freeholders this November.

So to the rumors mongers, who like to spread false allegations about Amy Mallet and others , I can say with authority that they are just that, rumors. 

Amy Mallet will not be dropped from Freeholder's ticket and there is no disharmony between D'Amico and fellow Freeholder McMorrow down at the Hall of Records

It was a great night at the Monmouth County Fair

It was a great night at the Monmouth County Fair, the atmosphere was electric and the weather was beautiful. If like me, you haven't made it to the fair in awhile I recommend that you go and have a good time. The carnival rides, games and food seemed to be enjoyed by many of those that attended.  And how can you pass up a chance to watch the always exciting pig races!

I spent most of my time meeting and greeting people while helping out at the Monmouth County Democrat's booth. I was very surprised at how enthusiastic the people were when they stopped by to talk to us. We had a constant and steady stream of visitors and must have register 30 or more new Democrat for the upcoming general election on November 4th. It was also stunning to see how many young people came up to us and wanted to help out.

Democratic Candidate for Freeholder, Glenn Mason of Hazlet, was there all night meeting and talking to interested passersby who all seemed to be genuinely interested in his candidacy.

Also stopping by the booth was Josh Zeitz, Democratic Candidate for the 4th Congressional district. Josh spent a few hours with us and was also greeted warmly by crowds.

I met Josh briefly a few months back at the Monmouth County Democratic mini-convention but never had the chance to talk with him. This time around I found him to be a very nice, down to earth person, who knew the important issues that effected his district. He also had many ideas about how he could bring about change in our nation. I wish him a lot of luck in his uphill battle to unseat incumbent Chris Smith in the 4th district.
