Investigator’s Tape Exposes Bill O’Reilly’s JFK Fib

Another Bill O'Reilly fabrication... He's beginning to make Brain Williams look like George Washington.

Read the story and listen to the embedded audio clips of the 1977 phone calls between O'Reilly and congressional investigator Gaeton Fonzi. The audio leaves no doubt that Bill O'Reilly is lying about his involvement in a JFK assassination investigation that he wrote about in his book Killing Kennedy.

 From JFKFacts.org:
In his best-selling book Killing Kennedy, Bill O’Reilly tells a brief tale of an intrepid reporter — himself — chasing the historical truth of JFK’s assassination in south Florida. But the story itself is a fiction, as O’Reilly reveals here in his own voice.
In the annals of the JFK assassination story, rife with CIA and FBI malfeasance, O’Reilly’s fanciful anecdote might seem trivial. It is not the saddest feature of his book, which manages to ignore all of the high-quality JFK assassination scholarship of the last two decades.
But as O’Reilly’s yarn is presented as fact in USA Today and the Fort-Worth Telegram; as his book dominates the best-seller charts; and as a credulous National Geographic embarks on making a documentary of Killing Kennedy, O’Reilly’s credibility matters.
In O’Reilly’s account, the dramatic incident happened on March 29, 1977. The Fox News talk show host was then a 28-year-old television reporter in Dallas seeking to make a name for himself by investigating a popular subject that other reporters disdained: the assassination of President John F. Kennedy....

I posted a link to this article early yesterday on my Facebook page after seeing it first posted by a friend. Since that time the story has really caught on and has been reported by many in the media. Until now Fox News has been standing behind Bill O'Reilly and the controversy surrounding his Falkland Islands "war zone" fib. It seems however that that support is waining, Fox has seemed to go silent all of a sudden with O'Reilly's obvious fabrication of JFK story

There is very little to Fox News or the rest of that Fox crew that inspires trust in journalism.

Fox seems to scour the bottom of the barrel for what it presents to the public every day. Most of these individuals are in need of a good psychiatrist....they really exhibit serious character flaws that need treatment......what some people will do for money ! Integrity and truthfulness escapes Fox .

What a silly response. I'll make this easy. There are no stories that have been fabricated. When people have a problem with Fox News it's typically because they don't like the fact that they tell the truth about Obama and Democrats. They are so used to all the other networks and most newspapers throwing softballs at the Democrats and playing down bad policies and things like terrorism, high unemployment, porous borders, and so on. It just irks you that there is actually a a station that is not in the tank for Obama and the democrats.

Fox News could not tell the truth if life depended on it !!!

Not a speck of integrity in any of that crew !!

Nut jobs !!

What does the President and the Democrats have to do with O'Reilly and his lying, cheating and lack of truthfulness ???

This article is not about the Republicans either. It's about the far right leaning distortions and BS spouted by O'Reilly and his cohorts at Fox News.

Anyone with half a brain knows better that to pay much attention to Fox News, anon 8:22 p.m. or to you either !

Let's try this again. Give an instance where Fox News fabricated a story. Very simple.

Try googling "Fox News Channel Controversies" for a sampling of Fox News fabrications. No one wants to get writer's cramp listing their lies.

Fairleigh Dickenson University conducted a poll and concluded that Fox News watchers knew less than those who watched no news at all. They asked objective questions like, "Is Mubarek still President of Egypt"...etc.

Pretty much sums it up.

I asked you to provide one , just one example of a fabricated story by Fox News. You cannot do it. There are whole websites devoted to try and take down Fox News. The reason being? They are the one outlet that refuses to blindly prop up Obama and his policies. It's that simple. It has nothing to do with accuracy or anything like that. If it did have anything to do with accuracy, they would be going after NBC who clearly fabricated stories having to do with George Zimmerman by editing the 911 call, or the bogus telegram that they promoted about George W Bush's military service. there's a reason that Fox News's ratings are higher than every other cable network put together. People are starving for a balanced reporting of the news not a one sided editorial like you get on many of the mainstream or other cable outlets. It's unfortunate that all you can do is call names or question the intelligence of the viewers of the news channel without providing concrete examples to back up your claims.

http://www.businessinsider.com/fox-news-fabricated-obama-quote-about-romney-2012-4

Anyone who has ever had the misfortune of waiting in a doctor's office with Fox News blaring knows that their specialty is lies of OMISSION.

Example: They will leave out a crucial part of a quote and then distort the meaning. Usually the story has a kernel of truth in it, but the upshot is then twisted to fit a right-wing agenda. The above is just one example.

So, when the Fox fan here goes on about fabricated stories, it is because he knows Fox does what all propagandists do-DISTORT.
