Buono Statement Following Passage of Assembly Bill Moving General Election Date to October 16
New Brunswick, NJ – yesterday, the New Jersey General Assembly passed legislation temporarily moving the general election date to October 16. In response, Democratic gubernatorial candidate and State Senator Barbara Buono released the following statement:
"Rather than waste more than $24 million in taxpayer money and create needless voter confusion, Governor Christie could take one of two routes: holding both the special Senate election and the gubernatorial election on October 16, or hold both on November 5. Instead, he's chosen a third option – holding two separate elections within three weeks of each other, all for his own political gain. It's a slap in the face to taxpayers, and Chris Christie should be held accountable for his actions."
