Middletown Halloween Hullabaloo
Saturday, October 20th, 5:00–8:00 p.m.
Middletown’s Halloween Hullabaloo will be held on Saturday, October 20th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Poricy Park, 345 Oak Hill Road.This spooktacular evening presented by the Middletown Recreation Department, Middletown Arts Center and Poricy Park Conservancy includes candy, costume contests, cartooning with the Doodle Dude, haunted hayrides and a magic show. Costume contests for several age groups and groups of two or more begin at 5:00 pm. Hayrides start at 5:30 p.m. followed by an awe-inspiring magic show at 6:00 p.m. Free admission. The Halloween Hullaballoo is part of Poricy Park’s Phantasmic Fall Series. The Halloween Haunt will be held Friday, October 26th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Haunted History Walks on Sunday, October 28th and Tuesday, October 30th. Visit www.poricypark.org or call 732-842-5966.
Food & Cleaning Supply Drive Oct 22-26
The Middletown Social Services Department will hold a food and cleaning supplies Drive October 22–26. Non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items and paper products are needed to stock Middletown Household Pantry. The Household Pantry, which is managed by the Social Services Department and Middletown Helps Its Own, provides emergency food and household supplies to residents in need. Donations can be dropped off the following locations:
Croydon Hall, 900 Leonardville Road (Admin Office & Senior Center) ;
the Town Hall Complex at 1 Kings Highway;
Poricy Park at 345 Oak Hill Road;
the Tonya Keller Community Center at 50 Bray Avenue,
Wells Fargo of Middletown at 857 Route 35 and
Investor Savings Bank, 1421 Route 35.
Donations will be collected and added to the pantry on Make a Difference Day on Saturday, October 27, 2012. Make A Difference Day is a nationwide community service day during which more than 3 million Americans are expected to participate. Call Social Services at 732-615-2085 for information.
Family Bicycle Safety Free Helmets!

Bring the family to the Tonya Keller Community Center on Tuesday, October 23 at 6:00 pm for a special presentation on bicycle safety. Activities include a kid-friendly presentation on Bicycle and Pedaling Safety and a parent-friendly discussion on Safe Routes to School programs. This event is hosted by Middletown Recreation Advisory Committee in partnership with the state Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School program. TKCC is located at 50 Bray Avenue. Giveaways and free admission.
Holiday Train Ride Set for December 8, 10 am & 1 pm departures

All Aboard! Middletown’s Holiday Train Ride returns Saturday, December 8th. Trains will depart from the Middletown Train Station at 10 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The train ride, which has become a holiday tradition for many families, features visits from Santa and friends, jugglers, holiday caroling, clowns, magic and more. All children over the age of one with a properly stamped ticket will receive a goodie bag. Each ride is approximately two hours. Advanced ticket purchase is required. Tickets cannot be purchased on the platform or while on the train.
The Middletown Recreation Department will begin selling tickets on Saturday, November 3 from 9:00am- 12:00pm at Croydon Hall, 900 Leonardville, Leonardo. Tickets can then be purchased in-person at Croydon Hall Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Registrants will be assigned a specific car on the train at the time of registration. It is highly recommended if you would like to sit with other families, that everyone registers early and at the same time. Tickets sell out quickly! Call 732-615-2260 for more information.
55th Annual Veteran's Day Parade To Be Held Nov.11
Fraternal, Veterans and Civic Groups Invited to Participate
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2179 along with its Ladies & Men’s Auxiliaries and Middletown Township will sponsor the 55th Annual Veterans Day Parade on November 11th. . All Fraternal, Veterans and Civic organizations as well as schools and scout troops are invited to participate.
The parade will assemble at 12:30PM at the Bayview School, 300 Leonardville Rd, The parade will step off at 1PM and proceed through Campbell’s Junction, turning right at Cherry Tree Farm Road, right at Wilson Avenue and right at Garrett Place ending at the rear entrance to VFW Post 2179. The theme of this year’s parade is “THIS NATION WILL REMAIN THE LAND OF THE FREE ONLY SO LONG AS IT IS THE HOME OF THE BRAVE.” Grand Marshall’s for this year’s parade are John Lewis, Marine Veteran of VFW Post 2179 and Cindy Malmo, President of the Ladies Auxiliary. Refreshments will be served at the VFW facility, 1 Veterans Lane, Port Monmouth immediately following the parade.

The Recreation Department needs volunteers to help with the Turkey Shoot Out on Friday, November 16th; the Dodgeball Tournament on Saturday, December 1; and the Holiday Train Ride on Saturday, December 8th. Call 732-615-2260 for more information.
