President Obama's Weekly Address 3/26/16: Defeating ISIL

WASHINGTON, DC — In this week's address, President Obama offered his thoughts and prayers to the people of Belgium and to families of the victims of the terrorist attacks in Brussels, including at least two Americans. He reiterated our support of Belgium as a close friend and ally of the United States, especially in the fight against terrorism. The President emphasized that defeating ISIL remains our top military, intelligence, and national security priority. He reminded us that as we move forward in this fight, we must use the power of our example as a Nation that is open to refugees escaping ISIL's violence, refuses ISIL's hateful and violent propaganda, and rejects any attempt to stigmatize Muslim-Americans. Together, we will not abandon our values and way of life – we will succeed and the terrorists will fail.

President Obama's Weekly Address 8/9/14: American Operations in Iraq

WASHINGTON, DC —In this week’s address, the President detailed why he authorized two operations in Iraq—targeted military strikes to protect Americans serving in Iraq and humanitarian airdrops of food and water to help Iraqi civilians trapped on a mountain by terrorists. The President saluted America’s brave men and women in uniform for protecting our fellow Americans and helping to save the lives of innocent people. The President also made clear that the United States will not be dragged into another war in Iraq – that American combat troops will not return – because there is no American military solution to the larger crisis in Iraq.

12 years ago today - much like today - it was a beautifully, clear and sunny day. I took my son to school and by the time I returned life as we had known changed forever. I'll never forget that day or the days that followed and neither should others. They will be forever vividly and deeply ingrained in our memory.

May the good Lord forever bless the thousands of innocent victims and families of those that died that day and all the heros that have given their lives since September 11th, 2001, to protect us from harm and preserve our freedom.

President Obama's Weekly Address 4/20/13: America Stands with the City of Boston

WASHINGTON, DC— In his weekly address, President Obama spoke to the American people about the act of terror at the Boston Marathon that wounded dozens and killed three innocent people on Monday, and said that through it all, Boston’s spirit remains undaunted and Americans have proven they refuse to be terrorized. This past week, first responders, race volunteers, doctors and nurses, and the good people of Boston joined together to show the world how Americans respond to evil: with resilience and resolve, and without fear. And that’s the way Boston and America will move forward together.

Palin: 'I Don't Know' If Abortion Clinic Bombers Are Terrorists

The buffoonish nature of Sarah Palin's vice presidential candidacy has mostly been a disaster for the McCain-Palin campaign, but it is has delivered at least one benefit: her foibles have helped obscure the true nature of her right-wing extremism.

But now, Sarah Palin's self-destructive behavior is threatening to expose even that. In an interview broadcast yesterday on NBC Nightly News, Brian Williams asked Palin whether she felt abortion clinic bombers were terrorists. Amazingly, she said that she didn't know :

"I don’t know if you’re going to use the word ‘terrorist’ there,"



What makes it so incredible is that Sarah Palin was responding to one of the easiest questions that has been posed during this entire campaign. Her answer should have been simple: of course they are terrorists.

Instead, Palin balked, saying that while bombings were unacceptable, she didn't know if they were acts of terrorism.
