JCP&L Public Hearing January 25th
On January 25 there will be a public hearing with JCP&L regarding the 230kV power lines they have proposed installing along the NJ Transit right of way from Red Bank to Aberdeen. The meeting will be held in the Auditorium of High School North at 7pm.
If you are unsure of what this project involves, or the impact it could have on all property owners in Middletown, you should attend. If you are opposed to this project, for any reason, you should attend to show your support in opposing it.
This will be the only public hearing where you can get up and go on the record to tell JCP&L how you feel about this. Opposition to the project is mounting and there will be hearings by the BPU to determine if it is warranted. NJ Transit has not provided JCP&L access to the right of way along the train tracks. They have not denied them access either. if there is enough public support, NJ Transit could deny access to JCP&L and the project will be terminated.

White Castle Coming To Port Monmouth; NJ Superior Court Overturns Middletown Planning Board Application Denial
It looks as though White Castle will be "sliding" a restaurant onto a vacant piece of land between Main street and Wilson Avenue in Port Monmouth after all. After having their application denied by the Middletown Planning Board last year, White Castle System, Inc. appealed the decision to the New Jersey Superior Court and on March 26th of this year, the NJ Superior Court ruled in favor of White Castle and overturned the Middletown Planning Board.
The ruling by the Superior Court states that all preliminary and final site plan approvals, including site design waivers, to permit White Castle to construct and operate a restaurant with a drive-thru on property has been approved by the court and can move forward. It seems now that the area residents, who strongly opposed the construction of the White Castle, will need to hire their own attorney if they wish to continue their fight and appeal the decision of the Superior Court that will be built in their backyards.
Below is the notice of the Courts decision that appeared in the pages of the Asbury Park Press public notice section yesterday:

Zoning Board Hearing Scheduled For Middletown's Methadone Clinic
If anyone is interested in voicing an opinion about the new methadone clinic on Rt. 35 at the corner of Apple Farm Rd, the Middletown Zoning Board has scheduled a hearing to be held 9-26 at 7pm in the Court Room at Town Hall.
The hearing is the result of local residents who have challenged the facility location, they have appealed the actions of the Zoning Officer in granting a zoning permit and certificate of occupancy to the owners of Middletown Medical and as a result the zoning board has decided to hold a hearing to hear the grievances of the residents that live in the Apple Brook neighborhood, behind the clinic.
Below is the public notice that announces the hearing and provides some details of the complaint:
