On May 5th
and 6th, you can take advantage of a free self-guided tour of
the numerous historical sites throughout Monmouth County, including museums, Victorian
homes, churches, farms, lighthouses, revolutionary sites, and a working
gristmill. What makes this event
special is that all 40 tour sites are open the same hours and admission is
free. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Thanks go to the Monmouth County Historical Commission for organizing the tour and preparing the tour booklet and map, which you can link to here or pick up at any site on the tour. http://visitmonmouth.com/page.aspx?ID=3464
The tour is organized into 4 color-coded sub-tours by
geographic area to allow for the most efficient use of your time, but you can
also make a personal tour in line with your own interests, visiting just those
sites that appeal to you.
Here’s a link to the County’s press release for more
information about this event.
