What Power Does An Alleged Felon Hold Over Monmouth County GOP Chairman Joe Oxley?

Monmouth County Republican Chair Joe Oxley has dumped the duly elected, loyal Republican committee and surrendered the ballot column to Art Gallagher's hand picked slate. In so doing he has removed loyal Republican Committee people from the same ballot column where this year's County and State Representatives will appear.

  

As the municipal chair of the Highlands County Committee I have been trying to get in touch with Mr. Oxley regarding suspected underhandedness that was brought to my attention.  Using phone calls and emails he finally responded that he would speak to me after Easter.  He did not.

 

My concern was that a sitting Councilman had indicated that he was going to run as an independent.  Mr. Oxley failed to get back to me and on April 13, 2012 he chose to remove the elected County Committee from the Republican line on the Primary Ballot and replace it with an entire slate submitted by Art Gallagher an alleged felon who may still have theft charges pending from the State of Delaware.  What power does Mr. Gallagher hold over Mr. Oxley?

 

I have been a loyal Republican for nearly 50 years and half of that time served as a Municipal County Committee member.  I am asking all Highlands Republicans to Stand Up for Highlands by voting for us in the June 5, 2012 Primary election. We can be found in column 5.

McMorrow To Seek Re-Election In Monmouth

Making front page headlines today in the Asbury Park Press is the story that Freeholder Director Barbara McMorrow, will be seeking re-election to her seat on the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Why is this such big news? Did people think that she wouldn't seek re-election?

Anyone who has followed the Monmouth County Democrats like I have, have known for months now that McMorrow would seek re-election. It really should not have come as a surprise to anyone.

I believe that naysayers and rightwing republican bloggers out there have been floating the idea that she wouldn't, trying to drive a wedge between McMorrow and her fellow Democrats. 

Even though Director McMorrow has been drifting closer to the right then the rest of her Democratic colleagues, seemingly causing a rift between them, nothing could be further from the truth. 

I can tell you first hand, having been to many Democratic function over the past months, Barbara McMorrow is extremely well liked and admired by Democrats in Monmouth County.

Democrats know that McMorrow will be facing a tough re-election.  Joe Oxley the Monmouth County GOP Chairman, will stop at nothing to defeat McMorrow and regain the control of the County.  Democrats in Monmouth understand this and are willing to give her some leeway in her decision making even if it seems to ruffle a few feathers.

The perceived split between McMorrow and fellow democratic colleagues John D'Amico and Amy Mallet, is not all that other want you to believe it is. This is politics and everyone understands it.  She has to take a stand against COAH and she comes across as a fiscal conservative if she is against the creation of a Solicitor General position for the county.

Barbara McMorrow is a smart and shrewd woman, who is doing what she can to be re-elected and  I think that she will be re-elected by a huge margine come November. 

Words carry not only meaning, but evoke evils from the past as well...

Matt Morehead, over at the Voice For The Youth blog has posted a thoughtful and compassionate response to Art Gallahger's ill conceived attempts to address race relations and the use of the "N" word.

Matt also notes that one of Art's supporters is none other than Eric Sedler, Chairman of the Monmouth County Young Republicans.

I wonder if Joe Oxley, the new Chairman for the Monmouth County GOP, also supports Art Gallahger and his MoreMonmouthMusings rants when it comes to is attempt to address race and the use of the "N" word?
