Letter: Why Renovate The Statehouse Now

The expressed opinions or views of this letter does not necessarily represent the opinion of the MiddletownMike blog:

Dear Editor,

Governor Christie's bizarre out-of-the blue plan to gut the historic New Jersey Statehouse with a massive $300 million dollar renovation, draws numerous questions.

The first thing to come to mind is that many people lose things when moving. Could the Governor have some interest in Bridgegate related evidence getting misplaced, with a relocated Executive Office?

The state debt is already unmanageable, and the last thing we need is an expensive fancy remodel of the statehouse.

Christie has already said that the portion used by the legislature will remain untouched so here's a better idea: Leave any construction to the next governor, or let the legislature create a project.
