Hurricane Aftermath

It's been two days since Hurricane Sandy swept through New Jersey and the Northeast and like many, I have been without electric, phone and internet service (thanks Comcast, those with Verizon seem to be doing fine).

I have a small generator that's capable enough to power my refrigerator and a couple of lights but I now need  gas. Does anyone know of a gas station open?

I've been hearing that homes in Belford,  Leonardo, Port Monmouth and elsewhere along Middletown's bayshore have been devastated. Many homes have been marked with a huge "X" as a sign that they have been condemned and the smell of gas and diesel is overpowering.

I'm sure FEMA will have a field day along the bayshore once they start deploying resources.

Leonardo resident Donna Kuntz wanted to express her gratitude to whoever it was who left trays of food on the doorsteps of a number of homes around her neighborhood. It was a generous offering by a stranger to many in need and they are thankful for it.

My blogging will be limited while the power is out. I am able to post occasionally with the help of my smart phone.

I'm also able to keep in contact via Twitter and Facebook so if anyone wishes to contact me they can do so that way.

from what i read there is a gas shortage in staten island too. we have plenty of gas over the verrazanno bridge in bay ridge, brooklyn. in this situation it would be worth the tolls
