Middletown Library Board Meeting 2/15/12 - Video

It has taken a few weeks for this video of the Middletown Public Library Board of Trustees meeting to be posted to YouTube and to be honest I haven't had a chance to watch it in full just yet.

This meeting that took place on February 15, 2012, was the first Library Board meeting after the resignation of long time Board President Randall Gabrielan. Newly appointed member, Lawrence Nelsen, was voted to be the New President of the Board of Trustees.

It is very apparent from the video that the new Board of Trustee members aren't ready for prime time.

The newly appointed Board Attorney Armen McOmber, makes it clear to everyone in attendance, including the new appointees, that the new members of the Library Board don't know what they are doing and therefore when it comes to the conducting of meetings and then proceeds to conduct the meeting himself.

He decides than that he will need to attend meetings until this new Board is capable of conducting meetings on its own.

There were also a few very passionate members of the audience that rose during the public comments portion of the meeting to express their feels of displeasure about the wrong direction the Middletown Library system seems to be heading.

Seems like a far stretch from whats on the video...

"the wrong direction the Middletown Library system seems to be heading"

It seems like you are infering way more than I saw in this video, seems like normal business to me, and even if these new guys save us $10 in taxpayers money, they are headed in the RIGHT direction!!!

Mike, you try to make mountains out of molehills, but I guess it has to do with how big your magnifying glass is...

Put it down and maybe you will see the big picture!!!

Anon 8:27,

Have you ever attended a Library Board meeting yourself?

This new board will not be saving taxpayers any money in the foreseeable future,as a matter of fact they will be costing taxpayers big time!

The need to have the new attorney attend meetings for the next several months will cost the Library thousands of dollars that did not need to be spent on legal counsel.

Even McOmber stated that a attorney need not be present at meetings and he has no intention of attending meetings once these new guys are ready for prime-time.

Oh my goodness I'm trying not to wet myself- at least not as much as when Christie yells at me- :)

Our ever present defender of the TC, the same TC which just attacked Gabrielan for supposed waste of 700- waste over a span of years which went undetected till the TC went on their fishing expedition with that big old magnifying
glass, is accusing MIKE of sweating the small stuff?

Didn't Fiore say in the Press that NO amount was too niggly to fire someone over?

Why then, should the taxpayers of Middletown not hold the TC to the EXACT same standard as they hold us- you know, with that big old magnifying glass?
