Randall Gabrielan To Be Honored At The March 21st Meeting Of The Library Board

by Linda Baum

At last night’s Library Board meeting, the Board voted unanimously to present a plaque to former Board president and 25-year trustee Randall Gabrielan for his years of dedicated service and to rename the Library’s New Jersey room in his honor.

The New Jersey room is home to the many fine histories authored by Mr. Gabrielan, Monmouth County Historian, so it is a fitting tribute that the room should bear his name. A duplicate of the plaque will be on display at the Library.

The presentation will be made at the Board’s March 21st meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Library’s main branch. Please mark your calendars and join me and many others in recognizing a lifetime of service and achievement.

I don't quite know what to make of this sudden turn around in relation to Mr. Gabrielan. One day he is being called a crook who swindled the township out of money by signing vouchers to pay for the purchase of his books, and now he is being honored, given a plaque and having the NJ History room named in his honor. Seems like a political ploy to me. The man loved and served the library well for 25 years, then was attacked by the current administration and now is being honored. This recognition is long overdue. I wonder if he'll show up at the March meeting? I wouldn't, if I were him.

This welcome news has made my day!
A true success story, our library under Mr. Gabrielan's tutelage. May it continue to move forward, and not be held back by its new, know-nothing trustees.

I hope very much that Mr. Gabrielan does attend. There ought to be a huge crowd there to welcome him. If there is anything good to come of what has gone on these last weeks, it's that the assault on his character has only made plain the strength of it.

There were at least 50 people at the meeting last night and it was being videotaped! Seems like maybe some at the dais were thinking about their political futures.

I wouldn't quite put that plaque on the wall just yet. Doesn't the township have to approve such decisions on public property? Isn't this what happened with Silva? Isn't the Library Township property?

A plaque for another $500 because he is gone ... pretty good deal ...When will the little duckling learn what politics are about...

When will anon 9:13 and anon 9:51.(believed to be one and the same mentally challenged character) learn to shut your vicious mouth ? Ever ?

This is great new for Mr. Gabrielan. It is sad to see the 5 newly appointed Board members do not know how to conduct a meeting. They have a new President in Larry Nelson who has been a member of the Human Rights Commission and regularly attends Township Committee meetings, yet still does not know how to conduct a meeting. He is well prepared to hold this new position. The Library will be paying Atty. McComber $135/hr to teach these knuckleheads how to conduct a meeting.

Stephanie Murray wanted to "think" about the dedication and vote on it at the next meeting. After the other board members agreed that it was a deserving gesture, she said, "Well, if the Board feels this way I will vote in favor of it too." She surely knows how to stand by her convictions, or maybe she is used to going with the rest of the crowd.

Judging from video of the TC meeting posted on this site, it appears Ms. Murray not only carries Scharfy's water, but pours it as well.

If you recognize who the new library trustees and the township committee really are - the puppets of the township republican organization - then make a note now on your calendar to VOTE THEM OUT! Even if one by one...
