Crime Scene Middletown: Recent Police Activity 9/27/11-10/2/11

Monday, 3 October 2011 -Arrests do not indicate convictions


On October 2, 2011 at approximately 2:10 am Patrolman James Beirne was on patrol in the area of Twinbrooks Drive when he stopped a vehicle for committing multiple moving violations. The officer approached the driver, identified as Joseph Lepkoski, age 20, from Gillville Lane in Middletown, NJ, at which point he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.

Officer Beirne conducted an investigation which resulted in Lepkoski being arrested for Underage Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On September 30, 2011 at approximately 7:05 pm Corporal Douglas Wiatrak responded to the area of Main Street in Port Monmouth in reference to a report of a possible drug transaction that was taking place in a motor vehicle. Officer Wiatrak located the vehicle and approached the driver, identified as Richard Weber, age 41, from Church Street in Belford, NJ.

The officer conducted an investigation which resulted in the recovery of a grinder, which is a device used to prepare narcotics for ingestion and Endocet pills. Weber was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Illegal Possession of a Prescription Medication. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released on $1,500.00 set by Judge Richard Thompson.

On September 30, 2011 at approximately 5:30 pm Patrolman Ryan Riffert and Officer Janine Kennedy responded to the area of Center Avenue in reference to a report of an intoxicated subject who was threatening people. Upon arrival the officers located the subject, identified as William Heller, age 42, from Center Avenue in Middletown, NJ, who was extremely intoxicated.

The officers conducted an investigation during which Heller began yelling obscenities at people in the area. Heller was then arrested for Disorderly Conduct and was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On September 29, 2011 at approximately 2:25 am Corporal Ralph Flannigan and Patrolman Donald Coates were on patrol in the area of Port Monmouth Road when they stopped a vehicle for committing multiple moving violations. The officer approached the driver, identified as Margaret Ricchiuti, age 50, from Shore Haven Road in Hazlet, NJ, at which point they detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the car.

The officers conducted an investigation which resulted in Ricchiuti being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. She was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released pending a court date.

On September 29, 2011 at approximately 10:25 am Patrolman Jason Caruso and Corporal Gerald Weimer responded to the area of Church Street in reference to a report of a burglary in progress. The police desk had received a call from a witness who reported seeing three juveniles attempting to gain entry into a residence. The witness provided the dispatcher with descriptions of all three subjects which was then broadcasted to the responding officers.

Upon arrival in the area the officers observed three subjects fitting the description run into a field near the residence. Corporal Weimer and Patrolman Caruso were able to apprehend all three subjects. The officers conducted an investigation which resulted in a 15 year old male juvenile from Belford, NJ, being charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass and Conspiracy and two 15 year old male juveniles from Middletown being charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Conspiracy and Resisting Arrest.

All three suspects were transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released to their parents pending a court date. The officers were assisted with the investigation by Detective Kimberly Best.

On September 27, 2011 at approximately 10:10 pm Patrolman James Beirne was on patrol in the area of Newman Springs Road when he stopped a vehicle for having a rear light out. Officer Beirne approached the driver identified as William Seward, age 20, from 5th Avenue in Toms River, NJ, at which point he observed a small baggie containing Marijuana in plain view inside the vehicle.

Officer Beirne conducted an investigation which resulted in the recovery of another small baggie containing Marijuana, a glass pipe used for smoking Marijuana and the arrest of Seward for Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

The Middletown Police Department reports the arrests of the following subjects for various offenses:

Joseph Kovar, age 26, from Bayview Avenue in Belford, NJ, arrested on September 29, 2011 by Patrolman Anthony Dellatacoma on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Keyport Municipal Court. He was released after posting $164.00 bail.

Anastasia Kinsella, age 26, from Highway 35 in Red Bank, NJ, arrested on September 29, 2011 by Detective Laurence Schachtel on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. She was released after posting $357.00 bail.

Steven Nalbach, age 50, from Hamilton Avenue in Leonardo, NJ, arrested on September 29, 2011 by Patrolman Keith Hirschbein on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Newark Municipal Court. He was released on his own recognizance pending a court date.

Christopher Francy, from 8th Street in Belford, NJ, arrested on September 30, 2011 by Patrolman Anthony Dellatacoma on three Contempt of Court warrants issued by the Aberdeen, Helmetta and Union Beach Municipal Courts. He was released after posting $2,404.00 bail.

David Foggy, age 40, from Thousand Oaks Drive in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, arrested on September 30, 2011 by Patrolman Richard Belmonte on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Hazlet Municipal Court. He was transferred to the Hazlet Police Department and was held on bail.
