APP: Schlossbach drops out of 11th District race for Assembly

The Asbury Park Press as well as other news agency's have reported that Democratic Candidate Marilyn Schlossbach Has pulled out of the 11th District race for Assembly. Her reason for doing so was based on the damage sustained to her numerous shore area restaurants as a result of Hurricane Irene:

...“It is with great regret that I must withdraw my candidacy for Assembly. My efforts at this time must be focused on the health of my business, and protecting the jobs,” Schlossbach said Wednesday....
...She said she was sad about having to drop out of the race. However, she said she would consider running again in two years.

She said she wanted to put her employees ahead of everything else....

Campaign Manager, Vlad Gutman is quoted as saying that the decision was made on Wednesday, after Schlossbach had a chance to assess the impact of the storm damage on her businesses.

“I think as time went on, it became clear to her that she could not continue in the race,” Gutman said. “Her employees were her first priority.”

Her running mate Vin Gopal has left the following statement on his Facebook page concerning the departure of Scholssbach from the ticket.

I made a lifetime friend in Marilyn Schlossbach - a smart businesswoman filled with integrity and compassion. Although she has exited the race to focus on her businesses, she will be involved in helping our team in Asbury Park. Over 100 committee members will meet next week to pick my new runningmate, I will continue to work hard, knocking on doors & raising money and we will win on November 8th.

This is a stunning turn of events for the race in the 11th Assembly District were many felt that Gopal and Schlossbach had a extremely good chance to knock off their Republican incumbent opponents Assemblywomen Mary Pat Angelini and Caroline Casagrande.

Schlossbach or Angelini? Does it really make a difference? Both are liberals. I would be embarrassed to have either one of these dimwits represent me.

Mary Pat Angelini: New [Medical] Marijuana Law Will Increase Teen Drug Use

What was Mary Pat smoking? What kind of coward nominee did the Monmouth County Democrats put forward that would back down without a fight when facing an idiot like Angelini? Who, in life, hasn't faced difficulty? Who backs down from a fight when facing a bump in the road?

I am trying to post the following on Art Gallagher's web site (www.moremonmouthmusings.net) . Art likes to censor what appears on his site. The following is what I wanted to say in response to his most recent post:

"As those who have followed Christie on the stump know, the Governor is a great story teller, in the tradition of great Irish story tellers. " -- Art Gallagher (idiot/bullshit artist)

Art, don't you dare embarrass the Irish by suggesting that Christie -- half Irish at best, and a full-time liar most of the time -- is acting in a way that is at all Irish and/or honorable. Christie is half-Italian. He certainly lacks much in the character department.

Christie lies often. Case in point: Chrisie promised, in a very public way, not to raise taxes if elected. He has, nonethless, certainly expressed his willingness to increase tolls (road taxes). To wit:

Truckers insulted by 125 percent tax increase in NY-NJ

This fat bastard (Christie) and his cheerleaders (e.g., Art Gallagher) can call call these tax increases "user fees" until they are blue in the face. The fact of the matter is that Chris Christie will increase, by 125% over a 4 year period, the tolls/road taxes that independent truckers (small business owners) will have to pay in order to do business in New Jersey and New York. (See the link above.)

Governor Christie, take a look around. Almost everything that you own was once on a truck. Do you really think that increasing tolls by 125% over 4 years will not increase the cost of living that ALL New Jersey residents will have to endure? How can you claim that a toll increase is not a tax increase?

It now costs $40 for a truck to cross the GW bridge. The Port Authority wants to change that. In 2015, truckers will pay $90 to cross a bridge if the PA (Port Authority) plan is approved. Only you can stop this tax/toll increase. Will you?

Tell me, Art Gallagher (and Chris Christie), how do increased tolls make it easier for truckers to do business here in New Jersey? How do toll increases improve the quality of life here in New Jersey?

Robert,

I posted your comment about Art Gallagher's blog this one time, in the future I will not.

I really don't care what Art posts or doesn't post on his blog.

Please reserve this space for comments about MiddletownMike posts only.

Thanks

Thanks, Mike. Art Gallagher often censors what I seek to publish on his site. Gallagher will often censor what I have to say unless he thinks (knows) that what others (moi) have to say will be published on another (your) blog site.

Art Gallagher only supports free speech when he is certain that others are willing to pat him on the back for publishing that which most don't want to read.

Thanks, Mike. You own this blog and you own what appears therein. I respect as much. That said, we only have freedom of speech when others will publish what others will not publish. Please think twice about censoring what others have to say. Please support free speech.

Mike, you shouldn't censor what others want you to censor. All blogs are better/stronger because some (others) will publish what others (you) are quick to censor.

I like you precisely because you do tolerate obnoxious speech. Please don't censor any speech, particularly what someone else is so quick to censor.

Robert,

Very seldom do I not publish someone's comment. It really has to be over the top for me not to print it.

That said, please keep your comments relevent to the topic post.

Don't leave messages for Art Gallagher or other bloggers here in the future because I won't publish them unless your comments about the others is topical to the material posted.

I give a lot of leeway to commentors to express themselves but I won't promote other blogs unnecessarily, especially ones that I don't always see eye to eye with.

Feel free to banter back and forth with any commentors you like, I'll print it.

Thanks, Mike. I respect that only what you want will appear on your blog site. That said, we are all better because free speech exists. If you publish what others won't, then we are all better, particuarly if you hate but publish the speech that you are inclined to suppress. Suppressed speech rarely helps any one. Publish unpopular speech and you become, instantly, the fan of patriots everywhere.

Mike, I don't share your politics but I love that you respect free speech. Please don't suppress legal/free speech in the future. Your ratings (the money you earn from advertising) will increase considerably precisely because you let others fight it out on this blog site.

Encourage debate. Therein lies the ratings and/or the money pot.It is that simple.

Robert,

I don't make money off of this website, I do it for free and I post what interests me.

If people find what i post interresting or of service I am happy with that. If they feel compelled to post a comment I am greatful for will publish it as long as it is not over the top or distasteful.

Thanks for your readership and continue posting comments.

BTW - check out MMM, Art posted your comment.

Mike, again, please be reluctant to censor what someone in Monmouth County has to say about a political matter. Patriots tolerate the speech that others hate. Please be a patriot. Please encourage free speech.

Robert Martin,

Enough.

When free speach is speach rooted in rambling stupid thinking, then not 'publishing' it is a valid alternative that avoids promoting stupidity.

Thanks anon 1:28, I had enough of that inane conversation too.
This was supposed to be about Schlossbach, not free speech or Art G.
I think MR. Martin is only interested in what he wants to talk about and seems to have a lot of free time.
I'm glad Mike clarifed that he doesn't profift from his site. How refreshing that there are still people who do things for other reasons than to pad their own pockets. But of course he is a Liberal. Thanks Mike for all you do.

Schlossbach is hot. To bad she is dropping out of the race. She was great to see so involved in the campaign.
