Newly Elected School Board Member Resigns

At last weeks Middletown Board of Education meeting, newly elected board member Bob Banta, announce that he was resigning from the Middletown Board of Education after sitting on the board for just one meeting.

Banta was elected to the Middletown BOE this past April 27th, along with his running mate Gerry Wexelberg. Banta received the second highest number of vote garnering over 2600 votes.

Banta's reason for stepping down from the BOE was said to be health related.

For anyone interested in seeking to replace Bob Banta on the Middletown Board of Education you have until June 10th to submit an application and resume to the school board.

I think very highly of Bob, who has been a dedicated and committed volunteer in Middletown for many years. He is exactly the type of person that should be on the school board, and I am sad that he has to resign.

I wish him all the best with his health!!!

I too supported Bob and wish him well. I am now concerned with appointing a new BOE member instead of electing one.
Time will tell if the new leadership will do what's right for the students in all schools and not be controlled by the incompetent politicians in this town.

Maybe it was that BAM group and the new BOE president that made Bob Banta sick in a single exposure.

The BOE should accept the candidate with t he next most votes from the election. Otherwise, why have elections when people can just apply for a position? Who determines who gets "hired"? Certainly not the taxpayers in town.

I agree with anon 7:55. The next person with the most votes should get the position.
Wasn't that Donnelly?
