President Obama's Weekly Address 12/25/13: The President and First Lady Wish Everyone a Happy Holiday Season

WASHINGTON, DC—In this week’s address, President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. They also thanked our brave troops and their families for their service and sacrifice, and reminded everyone to visit JoiningForces.gov to find ways to give back to our military families this year. Both the President and First Lady said that during this holiday season, we should all come together to find ways to support our communities, continue caring for each other and keep working to be the best parents, children, friends, neighbors, and citizens we can be.

President Obama's Weekly Address 11/22/12:Wishing the American People a Happy Thanksgiving

WASHINGTON, DC—During this holiday season, President Obama gave thanks in his weekly address for all of the blessings we share as Americans, and expressed his gratitude to the brave men and women who are defending our freedom around the world. As we come together to spend time with those we love, we also stand with those who are less fortunate this year, including our fellow Americans in the northeast who lost so much during the recent storm. This Thanksgiving, friends, family, and community will gather in the spirit of unity and look out for those less fortunate – to pull each other up and move forward together.

The Powers On and I Am Finally Back Online

I just walked through my front door a few moments ago and I'm very happy to report that my power is back on. Yea !!!!

5 days without heat, electric, phone or internet service was almost more than I could stand. I can really appreciated now what life must have been like over a 100 years ago when much of the country considered electricity a novelty of luxury, for city folks and a telephone was nothing more than 2 cans attached with string between them.

The only benefit  I can say that came out of the greatest natural disaster ever to hit our country, Hurricane Sandy, is that it has brought my family closer together and made us appreciate and love each other more than anyone of us could have known was possible previously.

Getting back to the basics was a gift that we will all treasure and it has made us stronger.

There is definitely something to be said about gathering your family around a table at night, with a deck of cards or an old board game, lit only by the light of a lantern or a candle; It brings everyone together in a way that has been sorely missing in today's society and it brought me back to my childhood when all they was to do was go outside and play or watch whatever your father or mother was watching on 1 of only 13 TV channels.

I hope that the power is turned on soon for the rest of you who have been adversely affected by Hurricane Sandy. But while the power is turned off, I hope you all take advantage of the little pleasures in life and reconnect with your loved ones as I have with mine.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have lost so much due to this tragedy. Remember, you can always replace to material things in life. It's your family and loved ones that are irreplaceable, so treasure them always.

Happy New Year to One and All

As 2011 comes to a close, I know that it hasn't been a good year to many out there, but as we enter 2012 things are beginning to look up; The stock market is up, unemployment is on the way down, the housing and real estate markets have started to turn in the positive direction and the long war in Iraq has come to an end. It seems that we are on the right track for a great new year (that is of course if the world doesn't on before the 2012 is over).

For all of those that have touched my life this year and in years past; family, friends, co-workers, acquaintances and readers of this blog, I want you to know that I am extremely fortunate to have been touched by each of you.

Remember, it's the people that we know and love that make a difference in the fabric of our lives, not the material itself.

Have a happy, safe and prosperous New Year everyone!
