The sponsors of Middletown's annual Memorial Day Parade should be ashamed of themselves for allowing marchers in yesterday's parade to carry a Pro-Life banner along the parade route.
The purpose of Memorial Day is to pay tribute to all the fallen soldiers that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country, so that we all may enjoy the freedoms that their sacrifices have ensured and maintained for us.
Whoever at the American Legion that approved these marchers and desecrated the honor of all those fallen heroes should be barred from the halls of the American Legion immediately and have their membership revoked!

Things like this just show Middletown residents just how out of touch today's Republicans really are.

There's nothing new here. In Scharffy's speech when he was mayor, he singled out the members of the Tea Party who marched in the parade calling them the "real Americans". Because, as we all know, the only "real Americans" are the ones who agree with the right wing of the Republican Party.
I don't think you give them enough credit Mike. They ARE in touch with the politics in Middletown. Bush and Romney bot got about 60% of the vote here. They know that the vast majority of residents here are too busy living their lives to pay attention. And we have taught them that because of our collective apathy they can get away with anything they want. Our current mayor used the mailing list from the township newsletter (which the Republicans shamelessly use to self promote) to illegally send campaign emails. He claimed he didn't know anything about it even though it was traced back to his email address. It wasn't illegal to obtain the addresses, it was illegal to anonymously send the emails.
And for this impropriety he was was rewarded by being appointed mayor. After all, it's just politics right? Character doesn't matter as long as there is an "R" after their names.
