Beach Alert: No Lifeguards on Duty, Bathing Prohibited at Middletown Beaches

From Middletown Alerts:

The Middletown Township Recreation Department announces that the Township’s two beaches, Ideal Beach and Leonardo Beach, are open to the public but will not have lifeguards on duty this summer until further notice. Due to conditions that may exist as a result of Superstorm Sandy, bathing is prohibited. For more information call the Recreation Department at 732-615-2260.

If there is no money in the till to hire lifeguards what else is there to do? I supppse you can also swim at your own risk.

Middletown will be Money Magazine's worst place to live in NJ....close the libraries, close the beaches and what next ?? Get rid of this TC, all of them, that's what !!

BTW, are two more turf fields more important than life guards for the summer. Only if you're running for re-election and you're a do nothing, self serving politician these last three years and you think you need the vote of the jocks.

We've heard that before.

There will be only one turf field.
Just over a month go the township posted on the website that they were hiring lifeguards for the beaches. Hopefully, these new hires will be at the Leonardo beach, for there will be no sand pumped onto that beach. The sand from that beach is still sitting up on the roads.

When you vote Republican in Middletown you vote for 'serve the Party first the public comes last' commitment to service. The entire township is a Republican sandbox.

It's a political cesspool,a republican cesspool that is more contaminated each year !

Wonder what loss of bathing at the beaches does to property values in Leonardo? Would have thought this would be one of the perks for which we have such high assessments.

I can understand no lifeguards, but bathing should only be advised against, not prohibited. Also, why no information about an eta on cleanup?
