Something Fishy Is Going On At The Library Again

The situation at the library may be more dire than what Mr. Gabrielan has eluded to in the previous post

Over the past few days, I have been receiving various comments both anonymously and on the record, left in the comments section of this blog for posts Video: LVGA Meet The Candidates Night and Destruction of Library Board is Reason to Vote Democratic in Middletown . I've also received an  anonymous email from a library patron who said that they had overheard a conversation at the library pertaining to possible branch closings.

I don't know what it is all about but it is very concerning.

When I hear something more concrete or definite, I'll pass along my findings. I doubt very much however, anyone from the library board or township will speak of this matter on or off the record, seeing how they may be easily identified due to information provided and the possible ramifications that providing this type of information may have at this time.

If anyone does have any information that can help me things together, don't be shy, please pass it along. I'll try to piece everything together, confirm what I can, then report the results.

Mike,

Have always said our library might be far better off under the control of the Monmouth County Library System. These rumors only solidify those feelings. The constant money grab may border on the illegal if this is again the case this year.

Quality of life in this community is so rancid it reaks to high heaven. Where does this all stop and when ??

Hey Mike,

I went on the website middletown democrat.com to find out more about my local candidates for TC.

I happen to notice that some changes were made from when the candidates were announced.

This sentance was changed-

"Most recently, Ms. Baum managed the actuarial division of the Compensation Rating & Inspection Bureau in Newark, NJ."

Whats the deal with that???

Yes that's correct, Linda Baum no longer works for NJCRIB.

She left her job earlier this year so that she could concentrate on other interests, one if which is running for township committee.

Does she know that council members are not paid???

The County will not take the Library and all of the debt it carries, unless they pay off the debt like what was done at the swim club. The town purchased an investment in the swim club, ran it into the ground and sold it juswt to pay off the debt. The same is happening to the Library. The reserves have been depleted, capital projects will not happen as promised and branches will close because of disrepair. Then the County will step in and take over this "drain on the operations of our town". What will be next, our municipal complex? Every police officer is required to know how to swim because of the flooding that happens at the police station during a heavy rain. Only the Chief is spared in his office on the second floor.
