WASHINGTON, DC— In this week’s address, President Obama commemorated Memorial Day by honoring the brave men and women in uniform who have given their lives in service to our country. As we stand with our veterans and military families this weekend, the President underscored our commitment to uphold our nation’s sacred trust with our veterans and ensure they get the benefits and opportunities they deserve and have earned.

Washington D.C. - In his weekly address, President Obama gave thanks to all the men and women defending our freedom and acknowledged their sacrifice might mean they can’t spend the holidays with their families. The President also recognized that as Americans, we gather together this Thanksgiving to lift up those who need a helping hand, letting us move forward as a country and lead us to a brighter tomorrow.

WASHINGTON, DC—During this holiday season, President Obama gave thanks in his weekly address for all of the blessings we share as Americans, and expressed his gratitude to the brave men and women who are defending our freedom around the world. As we come together to spend time with those we love, we also stand with those who are less fortunate this year, including our fellow Americans in the northeast who lost so much during the recent storm. This Thanksgiving, friends, family, and community will gather in the spirit of unity and look out for those less fortunate – to pull each other up and move forward together.

Forums On Women's Issues Presented By Women For Obama

Women for Obama will present a series of forums on Women's issues throughout Monmouth County

Five forums on women's issues, entitled "What Women Care About" will be conducted this fall in Monmouth Country at the following locations and times:

• Wednesday, September 12 at the Hazlet Library from 6:30 to 9: pm
• Saturday, September 15, at Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library on Rt. 35 in Shrewsbury from 1 to 4 pm
• Thursday, September 19, at the Belmar Pavilion from 7 to 9 pm
• Thursday, September 20, at the Old Wharf House, in Oceanport from 7 to 9 pm
• Saturday, October 20, at the Manalapan County Library from 12 to 4 pm

A panel of professional speakers (to be announced) will address such topics as women's health, domestic violence, voting rights among other issues. There is no charge and light refreshments will be served. 

The event is sponsored by Monmouth Country Women for Obama, a subset of the Obama for America organization whose mission is to inform Monmouth Country residents about the President's policies and how they impact women.  

The organization's value statement reads "We want a country in which it's possible to live these values:  Security & Safety, Health, Fairness and Freedom. We are all connected and everyone deserves a fair chance. Ensuring the common good helps everyone to thrive and makes for a stronger America!"
