Recycling Center Now Accepting Heavy Plastic

Middletown Township is adding heavy plastic to list of items that can be brought to the Recycling Center at Kanes Lane. Heavy plastic includes children’s outdoor play equipment, garbage cans, five-gallon buckets, and milk crates. Please note PVC pipe and acrylic carpet protectors are not heavy plastics and should be disposed of with regular garbage at this time. By recycling as much as possible, less waste is sent to the landfill which saves money on disposal fees. In the case of heavy plastic, the township will save $108 per ton. Kane’s Lane Recycling Center Accepting Single Stream Recycling

Here's an FYI if you're like me and had your recycling pick-up canceled due to all the snow these past couple of weeks.

To assist residents who have experienced cancelled recycling collections due to the severe winter weather, the Kane’s Lane Recycling facility has set aside a container to accept “single stream” recycling (all fiber, bottles and cans mixed together) as it would be collected curbside. Normally, the Public Works Department requires that recyclables brought to Kane’s Lane be separated by fiber products (cardboard, news print and mixed paper) and bottles and cans. The facility is located at 52 Kane’s Lane. Recycling Center Operating hours are Thursday through Monday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays).

Within Township Garbage District - The township contractor is picking up Christmas trees for those that have Township Garbage Collection on the second collection day (Thursday, Friday or Saturday).

Outside the Garbage District - Christmas Trees will be collected according the schedule below for those who have private garbage collection.Click the link below for schedule.

ICYMI - Recycling Center Accepting Used Motor Oil as of Sat, 12/14/13

The Department of Public Works will resume collection of used motor oil as of Saturday, December 14th at the Kanes Lane Reycling Center, 52 Kanes Lane. NO GASOLINE OR MIXED GAS AND OIL. Limit of 5 gallons per person for disposal at one time.

DPW had stopped collecting used motor oil at Kanes Lane due to contamination issues with its storage tank.
