Pallone Announces $1 Million to Reimburse Monmouth County for Emergency Services Provided in Wake of Superstorm Sandy
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that Monmouth County, New Jersey will be receiving more than $1 million in federal funding to reimburse the county for emergency services provided by first responders during Superstorm Sandy. The funding is being provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as part of the Sandy aid package Pallone fought for in Congress.
“These grants help to lessen the financial hit that communities across the state still face as we continue to recover from Sandy,” said Pallone. “In the wake of Sandy, emergency services were needed and this funding will reimburse Monmouth County for those measures. I am grateful that FEMA continues to recognize the importance of these efforts in New Jersey.”
This allocation provides $1,095,332.76 in federal funding to reimburse Monmouth County for emergency protective measures that enabled first responders to perform services in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, including search and rescue operations, evacuations, and securing temporary facilities for facilities destroyed or damaged during the storm.

Pallone Announces $9.4 Million Reimbursed to New Jersey State Police for Emergency Work Due to Sandy
Long Branch, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will reimburse New Jersey State Police (NJSP) $9,455,815 for additional work required of the force as a result of Superstorm Sandy. This work included but was not limited to public safety patrols, assisting stranded motorists, blocking hazardous roads, transporting residents to shelters, conducting search and rescue operations, and performing safety checks on residents.
“When Sandy hit our coast and New Jerseyans faced unbelievable destruction and unsafe conditions, New Jersey State Police rose to the occasion and worked around the clock to help residents in need,” said Pallone. “I commend NJSP for their continued commitment to public safety, and I join all New Jeseyans in thanking them for the service they provided our communities during the unsettling days immediately after Sandy.”
NJSP will be reimbursed for 75% of the more than 83,600 hours of labor worked statewide, of which more than 20% was overtime. This funding will also be directed to the costs associated with the 124,028 overtime hours NJSP’s Barrier Island Detail worked from November 16, 2012 to May 17, 2013.
This funding is awarded to NJSP in addition to $2,139,803 previously announced FEMA funding

Pallone Announces New Jersey Municipalities Reimbursed for Sandy Damage to Receive Additional FEMA Funding
Storm Damage Deemed Severe Enough for Additional Cost Sharing by FEMA
“FEMA’s announcement confirms what we knew all along – Sandy was a storm of epic proportions that caused widespread and severe damage. With the additional reimbursements from FEMA, our communities will be able to rebuild stronger than they otherwise might be able to and will take smaller financial hits during that process. It has always been a tradition in our country for the federal government to step in and provide appropriate assistance when disaster strikes, and in this case, I’m pleased that the Administration recognized further assistance was needed for our communities,” said Congressman Pallone, who in conversation with FEMA Administrator Fugate previously called for an increase in cost share for these grants.
