Free eBook of A Christmas Carol at Project Gutenberg

If you're an avid reader and own an eReader like an iPad, Kindle, Knook  or other such device, here is a great deal that I found out about just in time for Christmas.

Project Gutenberg offers over 50,000 free ebooks: choose among free epub books, free kindle books, download them or read them online.

They carry high quality ebooks: All the ebooks were previously published by bona fide publishers. They digitized and diligently proofread them with the help of thousands of volunteers.

No fee or registration is required, but if you find Project Gutenberg useful, they kindly ask you to donate a small amount so they can buy and digitize more books.

One such book that is available for a free download that is bound to put you in the holiday spirit is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens:

December, 1843.
I HAVE endeavoured in this Ghostly little book, to raise the Ghost of an Idea, which shall not put my readers out of humour with themselves, with each other, with the season, or with me. May it haunt their houses pleasantly, and no one wish to lay it.

Their faithful Friend and Servant,
C. D.
... “There are some upon this earth of yours,” returned the Spirit, “who lay claim to know us, and who do their deeds of passion, pride, ill-will, hatred, envy, bigotry, and selfishness in our name, who are as strange to us and all our kith and kin, as if they had never lived. Remember that, and charge their doings on themselves, not us.”...

Go check them out, there's a lot to read.
