Dear Editor,
On August 5th 2011, I accompanied Monmouth County Tax Commissioner Wayne Pomanowski (R) to a fundraiser for Albert Coutinho (D), a Newark Assemblyman at a Golf Course in Hunterdon County.
Mr. Pomanowski is a Tax Commissioner appointed by Governor Christie, he works as a Real Estate Broker and is also a very active Republican backroom powerbroker. Over his cell phone and Skype account, countless local government jobs in Monmouth County are doled out everyday for political purposes - despite the fact a Tax Commissioner has no authority to hire employees.
Republican Mr. Pomanowski told me he supported Democratic Assemblyman Albert Coutinho because Coutinho had corruptly helped Mr. Pomanowski by working to continue full benefits, like health insurance for part-time Tax Commissioners, even though Mr. Pomanowski is a well-off businessman who only works as a Tax Commissioner on a part-time basis.
Mr. Pomanowski made a $500 donation to Albert Countinho using a fake name because he didn't want other Republicans in Monmouth County to know he was contributing to a Democrat. The donation was made using a corporate check under the business name "Peter E Farrell LLC" and the personal name on the ELEC records were falsified to claim that Mr. Farrell was the donor. Mr. Pomanowski was the actual donor and he told me Peter Farrell was the name of his dead grandfather.
Newark Assemblyman Albert Coutinho (D) has since been convicted of corruption offenses - stealing $30,000 from a family charity. Since the conviction, he left office.
Mr. Pomanowski should meet the same fate as Mr. Coutinho for his unlawful activities. Mr. Pomanowski should immediately be removed from his position as a Monmouth County Tax Commissioner and be criminally indicted for his willful fraud.
The illegal donation (with a mailing address that matches Mr. Pomanowski's office) can be viewed online here: http://www.elec.state.nj.us/ELECReport/SearchContributorDetails.aspx?ID=1050763
