Pallone Announces $33,220,646 to Fight Homelessness in New Jersey

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that New Jersey counties, municipalities and nonprofit providers will receive $33,220,646 to combat homelessness across the state. Over two dozen organizations in the Sixth Congressional District will receive this funding, in addition to Monmouth County, Middlesex County and the Housing Authority of the Township of Edison.
“This funding is absolutely necessary to combat homelessness in New Jersey, which has increased significantly in some areas,” said Pallone. “Providing our counties, municipalities and nonprofits with these funds will enable them to expand their efforts to help New Jerseyans who do not sleep with a roof over their heads every night, which is especially worrisome in the cold of winter.”
Funding for the various counties, municipalities and nonprofits came from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care Program, which is designed to promote community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness and provide funding for efforts to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families while minimizing the trauma that homelessness causes.
