Now if the Township Committee didn't raid the the library reserves, there would be funds for the needed equipment. Now the library has to rely on various fundraisers to supplement the budget. Another example of poor planning in Middletown. This comes right after Mr. Fiore being replaced on the MTPL Board. His job is done now that every branch has been closed and penny has been pinched from the Library.

Middletown is a sad conglomeration of self serving politicians. The "Christie Team"....remember ??

What's next in their efforts for getting the money needed for their politically.motivated endeavors....
another turf field or some other foolishness to make someone look good at election time ??

Taxpayer beware....nothing changes in this town and it won't with total republican majorities !!
There are enough bond issues to last forever as it is.

Anon 11:27,

If you actually knew what you were talking about you would realize that the MTPL FOUNDATION has donated money for the past 5 years for library programs or special requests of the library director, not the town or the library board. The library also still has a $400K+ reserve TODAY and is able to maintain a beautiful facility, an up to date collection at the main branch. The former branches are being effectively utilized by other department's in town.

The township committee had every right by STATE LAW to take any reserve funds over 20.2% of the annual budget of the library. The previous library board's ignorance of STATE LAW is not an acceptable EXCUSE to place blame on someone else.

See all these FACTS that get in the way of your emotional argument. Isn't that annoying!!!

Anon 5:07,

You sound like you are one of the jerks either on the TC or the current band of thugs on the library board !!!

Go back to grade school, maybe your name calling will still work there!

Your behavior just proves to validate my point. Your argument doesn't hold water and never will. You are still unwilling to accept that the drop in municipal allocation to libraries across the state forced Libraries everywhere to make budget cuts. When presented with all of the information you still fail to come up with any logical conclusions.

The fact of the matter is that at the end of the day, you are forced to match income with expense! It's pretty basic math!

Maybe you should recall all the thug like character assaults by these political jerks against the former library director and one of her personal friends involved in running for office in this town before you find fault with anyone whose opinion is DIFFERENT from yours !!

The republicans in this community are experts in character assassination and attacks on anyone who opposes them.....just read the junk mail they send to OUR HOMES AT ELECTION TIME or the libelous letters to the APP. .....fiction not fact !!

We are all entitled to our opinions whether YOU LIKE THEM OR NOT !!!

Annual Library Allocation are FACTS not opinions

The calculation is based on the tax base of the town, not a made up number. The library allocation dropped $500K over 3 years. A first grader could put two and two together. Obviously cuts had to be made, you can't have it both ways.

There were plenty of stories printed about the former library director, Judge Lawson obviously made the right decision! If you think the TC has the APP at its beck and call to write stories, you are delusional. They wrote it as they saw it, the same way most logical people saw it.

Speaking of logical, how about you look at reality and see these hacks for what they really are....self serving political tyrants that they are.

As for the APP just read the asinine letters to the editor from the republican puppets that appear during "silly season" every year!!
The Middletown republicans are masters at character assassination and distortion of the truth no matter who the opponent may be. It's delusional to think otherwise. Too bad elections in Middletown are never conducted with integrity.

You,anon 8:48 p.m. are the one who refuses to see that every story has two sides and that each of us is entitled to an opinion and that opinion does not have to CONCUR with the Middletown republican political viewpoint.

Ole Sharfey generated plenty of print just a few years ago too!! Remember the editorial,"Tongue Tied For a Reason" ?? How do you think a whole lot of "logical people" viewed that episode, huh??

And while you are checking your facts, keep in mind there are now nearly 70,000 residents in this town, many who do not vote but they do have opinions to which they are entitled!!!

Now stop condemning others because they do not agree with you and don't call anybody ignorant until you have looked in the mirror.Just who in hell do you think you are??

There were commendable people serving on the former library board and they made the Middletown library one of the best.... and they refused to be intimidated or to have their integrity compromised !

Don't you ever get it.....all of the people in this town do not agree with you and none of us are obligated to listen to the condescending arrogance and verbosity and hypocritical crap that politicians just like you constantly exhort.
Respect is earned and don't ever forget it !!
