New Brunswick, NJ - Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono released the following statement after the passing of U.S. Senate candidate and Newark Mayor Cory Booker’s father, Cary:
“I would like to offer my most sincere condolences to Mayor Cory Booker upon hearing of his father’s passing.
“Mayor Booker’s father, Cary Booker, was a civil rights activist who accomplished much not only for himself but on behalf of the African-American community.
“Cory never hesitated to give his father credit for his ability to become the great public servant he is today. It is clear that his dad had a significant impact on his life, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.”
