New Jersey State Council of Machinists Endorses Buono for Governor

New Jersey State Council of Machinists Endorses Buono for Governor

New Brunswick, NJ – At their annual leadership conference, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono received the endorsement of the New Jersey State Council of Machinists, a private sector union representing 20,000 workers in New Jersey.

“We are proud to endorse Senator Buono today because we know that she is committed to fighting for New Jersey’s workers and their families,” said Vincent Addeo, President of the New Jersey State Council of Machinists. “She has spent her career advocating for policies that benefit working people and we are confident that her economic vision will lift up New Jersey workers and move our state forward.”

“I am honored to be endorsed by the New Jersey State Council of Machinists, a group of dedicated professionals who are literally working to build a better New Jersey everyday,” Senator Buono said. “New Jersey’s economy today is at a crossroads thanks to Governor Christie’s failed economic policies. Instead of investing in our workforce, Governor Christie handed out billions in ineffective tax credits to large corporations, leaving New Jersey with the highest unemployment rate in the region. That’s no comeback.

“To make matters worse, Governor Christie has demonized and disparaged union workers over the past three and a half years. Enough is enough. New Jersey needs a leader who will focus on creating good-paying jobs and opportunities here in the Garden State so working families can make ends meet. As Governor, I will stand side by side with New Jersey workers to fight for a living wage, earned sick days and essential worker protections. Together, we can put New Jersey back on the path to prosperity.”
