When I visited the Joseph Murray farmhouse and barn at
Poricy Park last month during the Weekend in Old Monmouth tour, I learned about
an interesting event taking place this Saturday. For you history buffs who enjoy the macabre, there will be a
re-enactment of Joseph Murray’s assassination on June 9th in the
field behind the Murray barn.
The event fee is $5 for members and $7 for non-members of
the Poricy Park Conservancy, with family maximums set at $20 and $25,
respectively. You can call the
Nature Center at 732-842-5966 to pre-register or just visit the registration
information table near the Murray farmhouse when you get there on Saturday.
Visitors are asked to park in the general lot and make the
short walk over to the farmhouse so that the parking spaces adjacent to the
farmhouse can be reserved for those with disabilities. Vehicles that are only dropping off
passengers at the farmhouse will also be given access to the farmhouse road.
Additional details can be found here: www.PoricyPark.org
Enjoy.
