"Froelich For Congress" Campaign Officially Kicks-Off By Thanking Middletown Democrats For Their Support

I would like to thank all my fellow Democratic colleagues and friends in Middletown and beyond for their voting support in the primary. It was a strong and enthusiastic turnout and the 'Froelich for Congress' campaign has officially begun.
Brian Froelich

Now the real work begins on the November election to replace the Republican 32 year incumbent ideologue- Chris Smith. Everyone agrees that collectively Congress is dysfunctional. Yet if we don’t hold individual Congress members to a standard higher than just showing up for photo ops we will never break this destructive cycle. Today's partisan members work only to defeat their opponents instead of working cooperatively to achieve mutual success for citizens.

Smith's public relations efforts can't hide his Congressional record of 32 straight years of increasing national spending, deficits, and debt, And, since he has had a Republican President for 20 of those years, a Republican Senate for 16 years, and a Republican Congress for 14 of the last 18 years, he can't blame it on the other team. He has been wrong for the economy, wrong for seniors, and wrong for women's rights. In 1994 he signed the 'Contract with America' pledging to support term limits for Congress. Its time to enforce his contract- at the voting booth in November.

I will bring effective, cooperative, and fiscally responsible leadership to the Congress that can produce positive results and reduce the national debt. For all of the facts see my website at www.froelich4congress.com

If you look at the top lobby group funding Mr. Smith, it is the anti-abortion rights lobby. If you look at the same chart for Rush Holt, you will see “Education” as the top lobby group.

While Mr. Smith is certainly entitled to his personal opinions, I find his status as the poster Congressman for the Right to Life movement to be deeply distressing.

More importantly, as the parent of children in Middletown’s public school system, I believe it is critical that we elect a Congressman who will advocate for our public schools with the same fervor he advocates against a woman’s right to choose. While Mr. Smith has done some admirable things for veterans, and is never at a loss to grab camera time in high profile cases like the Brazil kidnapping, I find Mr. Smith’s legislative priorities to be out of touch.

As Mr. Smith rode into Washington during the Reagan era, perhaps Reagan’s question, “Are you better off now than you were 32 years ago” might apply. Unfortunately, Mr. Smith is an incumbent with lots of cash flowing from anti-abortion groups and Mr. Froelich has an uphill battle. I hope he can do a better job than Middletown Democrats normally do in educating the public on his opponent’s agenda. I wish him luck and, I for one, will certainly be voting for Mr. Froelich this year.

Congressman Chris Smith will be sending a letter out thanking the Middletown Republicans when he wins Middletown by many thousands of votes this November.

No doubt Anon 8:02 is correct as Mr. Smith's newly drawn Congressional district has been carved out in such a way as to insure Republican advantage.

And as usual, many voters in Middletown will reflexively pull down the R lever even though their own children in Middletown's public schools will pay the price- yes, even in places like Lincroft, 8:02 AM :)

But hey, if you can send your kids to an expensive private school and think prayer in school is more important than math in school, I can understand your support for Mr. Smith.

I don't know much about Smith, but in trying to find out, I came upon this from the Christian Science Monitor. Apparently our future Congressman does not realize that ALL rape is forcible. Is this the best we can do for Middletown? Are there no Republican candidates that are living in the 21st century?

And to 5:19- maybe we are not educating Einsteins, but one hopes they spell a bit better than you. Siphen? Did Chris Christie teach you how to spell too?

Do all stupid republicans live in Middletown and the dumbest of them reside in Lincroft and Oak Hill ?

That seems the case from the diatribe appearing here 8:02 !
