Congressman Frank Pallone Applauds President Obama's Support for Marriage Equality

Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) released the following statement today in response to President Barak Obama’s comments in support of marriage equality:

"I applaud President Obama’s statement today in support of marriage equality for all Americans. The President described his personal ‘evolution’ on the issue of marriage equality, which is an important starting point for the rest of the nation as we begin to move forward with affording same-sex couples equal rights under the law. “Now it’s time to get to work and begin to establish laws that protect same-sex couples and ease the path toward total marriage equality. Marriage equality is a civil rights issue and the opportunity to marry should receive rigorous protection under the law. I look forward to standing with President Obama and continuing to fight for the right for all Americans to marry the people they love.”

I like Ron Paul's perspective a lot better. Marriage is just a voluntary association and shouldn't be controlled by the government. There shouldn't be a government recognized marriage, gay, straight, bestial, nothing. If two people can share love and call it a marriage, why not three, or four? Why do we place these arbitrary restrictions on it?
