BAN FRACKING WASTE IN NEW JERSEY

by guest blogger Linda Baum

The week of May 14th was dubbed a “week of action” by environmental advocacy organization Food and Water Watch, which encouraged New Jersey residents to call four specific legislative leaders this week to rally support for A575/S253, which would ban the treatment, storage, disposal, and discharge of fracking waste in our state.

Jim Walsh, Eastern Region Director of Food and Water Watch, told an audience at a fracking forum this week that just four people decide which bills make it to a floor vote in Trenton -- those are the four state legislators that we need to call. Their names and phone numbers are listed below. Call on Friday if you can to add your voice to this week’s effort, or call next week to keep the pressure on.

Senate President Sweeney: (888) 793-4597

Senate Majority Leader Weinberg: (877) 796-1950

Assembly Speaker Oliver: (866) 582-4813

Assembly Majority Leader Greenwald: (866) 946-1451

The flyer below that Food and Water Watch put together provides a few talking points for your calls in addition to information about recent happenings in New Jersey.
