The U.S. Economy Added 243,000 Jobs in January; Unemployment Dips to 8.3%
The United States economy gained momentum in January, adding 243,000 jobs, the second straight month of better-than-expected gains, the Labor Department reported on Friday. The unemployment rate fell to 8.3 percent. The promising jobs numbers came as various economic indicators have painted an ambivalent picture of the recovery’s strength.

The continuing good economic news makes the constant attack on Pres. Obama's policies by the Republicans look desperate and lack any credibility.
I would also point out if the Pres. could have gotten his job bill passed the unemployment picture would be improving faster.
The Republicans have been obstructionists all the way and have only focused on making Obama a one term president instead of focusing on improving the lives of unemployed Americans.
As predicted, this going to bite them in the end.
Shame on Boehner, McConnell and Cantor and the Tea Party.
Good news for working people, nightmare for the Republicans. Can't wait to see how they spin this into an anti-Obama tirade. Poor things really have their work cut out for them.
Yet black unemployment is up, way to take care of all of the people who came out and got you elected...
All of the previous jobs bills failed, why would they want to continue, let me guess, they learned from the past mistakes and improved on them, RIGHT!!!
The only thing I learned from the past mistakes was OBAMA was one big mistake. He has failed me month after month. Keep attacking the job creators and stop the class warfare!
anon 10:10, your comments sound just like the sound bites on Fox news.
No one here said anything about class warfare. That's coming from the Republicans. Even Romney said he wants to help the middle class. So is he spewing class warfare?
Unemployment had been over 10% when Obama took office and it's down to 8.3%. Yet you won't credit Obama for anything.
Are you saying that because Obama happens to be black he was supposed to do more for them? Typical ignorant statement.
I guess his policies have destroyed the stock market too.
Warren Buffet and Bill Gates happen to agree with his policies as well and recognize that they pay too little in taxes.
So it's just you and the do nothing Republicans playing the class warfare card.
You can add that pompous ass Trump to the mix as well.
You better get used to the idea that Pres. Barrack Obama will be our President for another 4 years.
Have you even paid attention to the Republican primaries? What a circus!
Oh you just know anon at 10PM is concerned with black unemployment!
It truly is pathetic to watch the right wing flailing in every direction. I should just sit back and enjoy it, but it has become so embarassing, even I have to take a break from it.
Re Donald Trump anon 11:01-
The mere fact that Romney held a photo op to graciously accept the Donald's endorsement indicates he is completely unfit to lead the nation.
What a list of endorsements- Christie, Trump...
how about Snookie?
