This meeting included the passing of an ordinance that approved the rezoning of the Bamm Hollow property as a result of settling a lawsuit out of court. There was also an ordinance introduced for the purpose of increasing the number of members to be appointed to the board of the Middletown Public Library. Currently there are 7 board trustees serving the Middletown Library, this ordinance will increase the number who serve as Library Board Trustees to 9.
The problem with this is that the Township Committee, which appoints the trustees to the Library Board, will handpicked loyal Republican cronies to serve on the library board, which will then make it easier in the future for the Township Committee to raid surplus and reserved library funds for its own use, as it did earlier this year when it extorted nearly $500,000 from the library (threatening that the library would be held responsible for police lay-offs if the money was not given up), in order to balance the Township budget.
A public hearing on the ordinance will take place at the December 19,2011 Township Committee meeting.

Apparently these politicians have not learned from their past mistakes. When taxpayer monies are set aside in a dedicated account for a specific purpose they are to used for that purpose. The TC will continue to raid the library of their funds as well as the Sewerage Authority to do as they please. Any time they see a large sum of money they will redirect it to try and make themselves look good. Meanwhile other programs suffer and taxes go up. I can see them funding their Arts Center and other financial disasters they have created and deprive a very successful library of their much needed funding. They are only doing what we have seen our state government do that has sent many programs in NJ into near insolvency. This is not leadership, this is a shell game with our money.
I have some questions? Who paid for this Memorial at Croydon Hall the one that is in the playground area? And if this is something the township does all the time where does my family have to go and what paperwork do they have to fill out to have one done for my brother who died in a car crash here in Middletown the one that has been setup on the side of the road for him is on a very busy road.
