Letter: Hypocrisy Reigns Once More

Good Morning Editor,

Silly season is upon us and once more hypocrisy reigns in Middletown. The landscape is littered with larger than life signs erected by the Middletown Republicans. The bigger the sign, the taller the tale it tells.

These signs state "Taxpayers First". How does a increase in the certified municipal tax rate of nearly fourteen ( 14%) in 2010 equate to putting the taxpayers of this township first ? The political fakers believe their own fabrications. They distort everything ,even mathematical fact. Remember the delusional diatribe spouted by last year's mayor of this township ? Believes his own fairy tales too ! Remember the Asbury Park Press's editorial "Tongue Tied for a Reason" ?

What Middletown really needs are township committee representatives that remember who they were elected to serve and represent. That has not happened in Middletown in many years of a republican majority.

Bipartisan government is healthy and better serves everyone. One party rule in this town has become a disgrace ! A change is desperately needed so voters cast an educated, intelligent vote. Do not cast a vote for cheat to win tactics.

The republicans believe their own fiction !

Ms. Thorpe, I'm one of your many fans. You tell it like it is and are not afraid to stand up for your convictions.
With you, its all about principals and doing what is right, not about self promotion.
There are those out there who try and discredit you, but their criticisms are petty and without merit. My guess is most of them are actually afraid of you, because you challenge the status quo.
Thank you for saying what many of us feel, but are not able to articulate.

Entertaining Fiction

Anon 5:16: Fiction? Maybe you should check with Steph Murray aka Cassandra about fiction.
She has a lot of experience in that department and I'm sure you'll find her fiction much more entertaining.

Anonymous 5:16 p.m.....Fact not fiction. The fiction writers serve on the TC in this town.

How can anyone be afraid of Mrs.Thorpe? We know her outrageous oubursts are from her dictatorship days as a union rep. and she can't control herself. The audience just feels sorry for her and ignore her rants and raves, with smiles and roll of eyes.

Speak for yourself majestic mutt !!
You only demean Mrs. Thorpe because she and her husband tried to help the people on the Swimming River corridor during the pipes installations in 2008.

Only afraid a few of your neighbors and yourself would experience a few of the people in the area driving by your house in their efforts to get home because of the construction.

Your idiot pal and your lies accomplished your agenda but Mrs. Thorpe wrote a commendable letter about equal treatment of all residents.

She is to be respected and praised for her fair outlook and treatment of others as was the case always in her working years in the Bell System and her executive union days with CWA.

The dictators in this town serve on the TC committee. One only has to attend a township committee meeting or have attended the meeting when the thugs were threatening the library trustees to know who they are.

We know who the dictators in this town are and it AIN'T the lady from Swimming River Road.

Last time I looked, the Lincroft Village Green did not send out a memo citing lies told by Ms. Thorpe, but they did send out a memo citing lies told by someone else. Can you guess who? Case closed.
Ms. Thorpe wins the truth Olympics on this issue.

Notice that Mrs. Thorpe aka Mrs. Anonymous all over this blog mention nothing about 2011 in her letter?

I live in Middletown and my municipal taxes went up in 2010 AND 2011. And the same bunch of Republicans that ran this town in 2010 are still with us in 2011. Do you REALLY want ANYONE to remind the voters in Middletown of 2011? Our brand new methadone clinic, theft from the public library, diminished brush collection, ...shall I go on?

That mongrel that writes under so many aliases we have all lost count, she is the mutt that constantly demeans and slanders Mrs. Thorpe for no good reason. Only reason was the Thorpe's proposed opening the emergency connection between the Majestic Avenues for the residents of the area because the pipe construction was causing a 10 MILE detour out to Laird Road. They wanted the township to open that connection for the very cause it was created and granted by the Thorpe family when the family farm was sold in the late 90's to Spatial Design for the Arboretum Development.

Mrs Thorpe's letter is right on the money...every word of it. Maybe she should write another one !!!

As a resident who lives on Majestic, I'm well aware of what happened several years ago pertaining to opening up my road during the pipe installation on Swimming River Rd.
All Mrs. Thorpe cared about was the residents who might have health issues who would have had a serious problem getting help because of the detour.
She wasn't suggesting to permanently open my road like my neighbor the (Republican kook) went around telling people.
She cared about the young school children waiting for their buses on Swimming River Rd.
It disgusts me that people have tried to much malign an individual who never thinks of herself but what is right and safe for her neighbors.
Thank you Barbara for being my neighbor.
