Did You Feel It? Earthquake Hits Middletown

Just a few minutes ago my house shook slightly, I didn't think much about it until the kids also felt the house shake. My wife had just pulled into the driveway and said the car shook but didn't think much about it because it was the car.

I went to the Internet and there are already dozens of reports stating that a 5.8 magnitude earthquake centered near Mineral,Virginia was felt as far away as Ohio,New England and Toronto Canada.

I haven't heard from anyone locally if there was any damage to report but I would suspect that there wasn't other than a few mentions of cell phone disruptions.

I wonder when the local environmentalists will start to say that this quake could have been caused by FRACKING (hydro fracturing shale formations to release natural gas).

Those dam greenies will say anything. Why can' they just go out and hug a tree? Who needs trees and people who care about the environment? I mean come on... setting off massive underground explosions to fracture the geology of an entire rock strata can't cause instability. Let's be reasonable and considerate here that kinda stuff only happens in Arkansas.

dude if those green dips mention fracking i'll laugh my toosh off. Spewing tons of toxic chemicals into the ground is my kind of a party! only total morons actually read about what that can do to the land anyway. Who cares! man, I need a beer!

We can point the finger at global warming too. Increased probability of earthquakes has been predicted. Basic physics. Pressure increases with temperature. I need a beer too. Right after I hug a tree.

that is crazy you say that. I just watched Al Gore's movie (forced by a friend of mine). I was kind of freaked out as he predicted all of these extreme weather forces. There are so many people who would rather jump off a cliff than admit we are quite arrogant with how we treat our planet. Oh well, the arrogant will ruin it for all, as they frequently do.---Signed Born again Greenie
