Middletown's Byrnes & Mahoney Wish To Thank Their Supporters

Dear Supporters,

We are so grateful to all of you for sacrificing your time and supporting us during our campaign for the Middletown Township Committee.

Obviously, we are disappointed with the outcome, but not with the effort put forth by all of you. We would encourage you to remain engaged and optimistic about the future. We saw many new faces this year, and those of you who have been working on the Party’s behalf for many years helped us to convince over 2,000 voters, who voted for Republican Congressional candidates, to cast a vote for us. We believe these “crossover” voters were the product of your door to door efforts and running a campaign based on substance.

Our goal is to build on these efforts. We learned that knocking on doors and delivering our message in person can deliver a district to our side, even in a tough election year. Some of you covered every door in your district, and we won those districts.

Above all, we are proud of the professional campaign we ran, which focused on issues and never allowed our approach to descend into name-calling or personal attacks. Our written materials relied upon empirical facts, and we took great pains to make sure that our assertions were factual. We established ourselves as a credible alternative to those that have controlled this Township for too long.

Looking ahead, we will continue to fight for greater transparency in our local government and work to hold all elected officials accountable for their actions.

You have given us a great gift, and we will never forget it---a gift of your time and energy and deep concern for all of us who live in Middletown. We will forever hold you in our hearts remembering your generosity.

With the warmest regards,

Sean Byrnes & Mary Mahoney

Thank you Sean and Mary. You represent honesty and integrity and would have made a great team. A huge loss for Middletown.
I hope you consider running again in the future. We need more people like you in government.

Both of you made this Middletown resident very proud of you. You conducted a quality campaign just as was expected from two quality people.

The outcome of this election was disappointing to say the least. Please remember the courage it took both of you to embark on this endeavor when it was clear what the obstacles were in this Republican town and the political climate at the nation level.

You both never sacrificed your ideals in order to win.

Hope you consider running again in the future. We do need more people of integrity serving in Middletown.

First time I ever voted for Democrats in my life. I know many others who did as well.

I'm one of those Republicans who also voted for Byrnes & Mahoney.
The Republican leadership in this town is a disgrace.

Firstly, let me tell you that I am a registered republican, who is questioning whether or not I wish to remain living in a community surrounded by so many uninformed voters. Like bleeting sheep they followed a wolf in sheeps clothing. How unfortunate for Middletown. More so, how unfortunate and sad for them that they believed the unbelievable.
What a remarkable team you would have made on the Township committee.
I wish to thank you both for your endeavor, and the manner in which you conducted your campaign. My hat's off to you both ....maybe, next year.

Let me chime in as well. This time the best candidates did not win.
Sean Byrnes was truly the finest committeeman we had and will be sorely missed by those who value honesty and integrity in their elected officials.
As a first time candidate, Mary Mahoney showed courage and conviction and obviously made a huge impression with the number of votes she received. I'm certain she would have made an excellent committeewoman.
I am a registered Independent, and these 2 individuals proved to me they stood for the residents in this town and not their party.
I applaud them for the quality campaign they ran, and hope that one day we will be fortunate enough to see them run again.
