Wednesday Weirdness: In the Wilds of New Jersey, a Legend Inspires a Hunt


With Halloween just a short time away, many people are looking for some fun and spooky things to do with their free time. One such weekend excursion could be a trek through the New Jersey Pine Barrens in search of the Jersey Devil.

Dan Barry writes a column for the NY Times called  This Land and he recently wrote about a group of indiviuals who have dedicated themselves to finding the Jersey Devil, they call themselves the Devil Hunters :

COME OUT, YOU DEVIL The Pine Barrens, a largely undeveloped area of South Jersey, has produced many stories. Among them is the long-standing tale of the Jersey Devil, and some people are still looking for the creature. “I’m the first one to say, ‘Yeah, I search for the Jersey Devil, ha-ha,’ ” Laura Leuter says. “But why, to this day, do people still report sightings?”....
